Okay everyone, you know we always ask for reviews and everything when we finish a chapter, but what do we really want to see?

I don't like reviews like this:
OMG pls update!!!!!!!!!!!!

I like it when the reader points out a mistake, tells me what they liked about it and encourages me (in a nice way) to update. Even though I don't do so for over a month :D

So, what about you?

i like a reviewer who would tell me what they think altho it is kind of flattering that the reviewer wants you to update... so i kind of like that.but i would appreaciate it much if that viewer would also point out some mistakes properly and also give ideas....

im having a writers block now... it has been a month since i updated by 6 chapter story about Sachiko and Yumi from Marimite... i put them in a situation that i didnt like and i dont know how to get them out of there....

I like a balance between praise and criticism. Praise usually goes all into my head while criticism helps me improve.

I despise people who only review with "Update please!" It's annoying. >_>

I'd have to agree with scribblexdie. Though I like criticism because I can't tolerate praise that well. >_>;

Sometimes however, I'd love to hear the reviewers opinions and the feelings for the plot and characters as the story thickens. Thats my praise right there ^^

i really want the reviewers to give me some praise along with what they liked in. But i'd also like to know whether i've made a spelling error or grammar error so i can go change it. I'd also aprriciate it if there wasn't a review that said, "i hate your pairing you suck" that review is a bit vague on what i should work on.

I love flattering reviews. Don't we all?
But I would prefer a review where the reader not only analyzes my writing style, but confronts their issues in the story, if any, as well. There are things that you sometimes can't see as a writer, and it takes a reader to really notice them. Especially for WIP's.

An example of the ideal review would be something like this:

"This story is just incredible! You portray the characters perfectly! There were a few grammar mistakes throughout the story, but aside from that, everything was just great! It has a great flow, and it's so beautifully written. The plot is just... wow! Just riveting! " -- See? Compliments as well as some insight on the more deeper aspects of the story.

I love constructive criticism, as long a it's not disrespectful.

Here is an example of a good review I received a few days ago, for my Harry Potter Fan Fic "I hate you, truly I do" (on FF.net-- HPDM SLASH)

petthekat 2009-01-02 . chapter 7
I'm so excited to see another chapter of this fic. XD

The bit with Hermione was really great, and very in-character. It goes more into Harry's struggle without repeating the same stuff over and over again. GREAT job on that.

I'm not so sure that Harry and Draco's interaction is very in-character. I'm trying to keep in mind that they've both aged over ten years by this fic, but something about their playful nature at this stage seems a little unreal. I think the whole nickname thing got me the most. Of course, you can't have their relationship go backwards in the story now, so there's really nothing you can do about it except revise the whole chapter, but it's just a thought. I'm not saying they shouldn't be friendly and of course, flirt, but something about it seems a little off.

Harry's side of it, though, is pretty spot-on. He's just as awkward and unsure as I would expect him to be, though - like I said - him being SO cutesy with Draco seems a bit odd.

The last scene was great! I loved it.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

It's a hot-cold review, and I can appreciate that. She give praise where praise is due, and doesn't hesitate to tell me what parts she likes and dislikes. By doing this, I can weigh her opinions, as well as mine and the other reviewers, and manipulate them to suit the story. Sometimes readers want you to make changes that you don't approve of, but it's good to know that the option is there. You can always work with it later, if need be.

Most of the reviews I get are in sync and somewhat similar to this, "OMG! i just luv ur story! pls update!"

I'm not saying that I dislike those types of reviews; actually, I'm quite pleased that someone actually took the time to tell me how much they liked it. But I would prefer it if they did tell me in a more detailed aspect of the basic things a review should contain. Constructive criticism is a must-factor. It is impossible for it to be perfect; there is always a way in which you can improve and progress, with the help of another. Praise is another thing; it helps me continue and encourages me to write. Though I don't like the type of praise which centers on almost worshipping.

They can give their opinions of the story and what parts they liked, or in some cases, dislike. They can also give advice and some help if you need it. Praise does help me, too, in a way. I always remember, in the back of my head, the reviews and they make me smile. It reminds me to keep going, and to remember that there are people out there counting on me.

I love to write, so that people can imagine what I had imagined myself. To dream what I had dreamed up a long time ago. That's why I write.

Well... I hate this quote from my story's review "Cool!" or "Update ASAP!"

I hate it because for "cool"... I want to tell that person that it's only one word. Wel which is toooo short. And about "Update ASAP!" Well... It's annoying! people always review like that....

Well... Because I want to be writer some day... I want people to criticism and praise my story.... That's all ^___^
