What form of FI would you choose for your car if you had the money to stuff that sucker in? Turbocharger or Supercharger?

depends what kind of car. a domestic benefits more from a supercharger because of their lower reving capabilities, while supercharging an import is mostly pointless because the SC's efficiency drops before the max hp is made on the motor.
besides the fact that the super charger makes power from the motor, while a turbo makes its power from the heat lost in the exhaust gasses. really turbo is much more efficient.... i drive imports so i have turbo's on my cars: 93 eclipse GSX T3O4 turbo, external wastegate 90 Nissan 240 SX (sil80 conversion) T28 ball bearing from S15 97 Subaru Impreza V.4 STI (stock turbo) |

Turbos are way more efficient form of forced induction. Super and Turbochargers are neither more for domestics or imports. The reason domestic cars love to use superchargers is because they love the low end power and torque from one. Turbos perform much better and yield bigger gains in both types of cars and a supercharger ever will. I would rather make power from waste product then make power by using power.

I love turbos. The sound, the anti-lag (on rally cars only
), and the fact that you're not using up engine power for more power. Too bad there's lag...But superchagers sound sweet as well, in addition, require much less modifications to upgrade, as pulley kits are a simply way to make more boost. In addition, there's no lag unlike turbos. In the end, it depends on what you'll use it for..... |
