Your peers *other teenagers* pressure you to have sex while society at large *adults* pressure you to remain a virgin. Also, I think one of the major contributers is that parents wait too long to talk to their kids about it, and when they do talk to their kids about it, they don't talk about all the things they should, in as much detail as they should. And they basically forbid their child from doing it so said children are too afraid of the consequences to actually talk to their parents about it, much less come to them about protection, pregnancy, and STD issues. Also, most schools avoid the issue altogether. So you've got a bunch of teenagers who know that sex is out there, and are being constantly pressured into having it, but have 0 information on how to protect themselves.

Haha, I do have to agree with this XD. However, I don't think it's wrong, if you know all of the consequences. They should provide more in depth education. In society, even though we are being bombarded with sex from all media, people are still afraid to discuss it and think it's dirty. You get that impression from when you're a young child and first hear the word and ask your parents, only to be chided and told 'you'll learn about it when you grow up'. I think the view on sex needs to be changed - instead of seeing it as a dirty, slutty, forbidden thing to do think of it as a necessary thing (because we all need to reproduce or the human race will die out, won't it?). Men are naturally impulsed to have sex to pass on their genes, and women naturally want a child once they reach a certain age. Therefore, it's not unnatural for teenagers to feel a biological urge to reproduce. Even so, many teenagers are probably only doing this because they think it's forbidden, and to break the rules is cool. Reverse psychology. Always works.

Our school never pressures anyone who is not ready. Perhaps being an all girls school would make sense XD. Amazingly enough there are only one or two in the grade (year 10) who have even come close. We're not a religious school either XD.

I believe that it's a good thing that people are pressured to have sex.

I don't care about the morality crap like you people do.I go on studied facts for my position.

Abraham Maslow created a ladder which measured the mental and inner growth of individuals. The foundations of this ladder consisted of several things: Food,Water,Air,and Sex. If these four needs are not met then growth is retarded.

The ancients understood this major principle, sexual progression helped established rich cultures and great civilizations.Do you think that using sexual images to promote something is an invention of modern times?Ancients have been using sex to sell for millenniums, just look at Greek,Egyptian, and Mesopotamian art.

it's unusual for a girl to feel pressured but for a man...
the macho culture is a must for most men. especially in highschool.

"what?! you're still a virgin? are you gay?" - the usual statement you would here from a bunch of highschool teenagers.

some will even make a pact:
"i will lose my virginity before my highschool graduation or i will lose it during prom night."

so yeah, the pressure is always on; for men, that is.

I believe in romance before sex, but my fellow man is usually pressured to have sex to prove their sexual orientation or to become a "real man".

A real man doesn't give into peer pressure like that.

There's not much I can say since most people said what I wanted to say. Some may get pressured but those people are few and far between. Curiosity plus straight atration to the purson and teenage hornyness both male and female, along with them finding out it feels good afterwards is what leads to early teens having sex no more no less.

Suppression of sexuality is unnatural. Blaming society makes no sense because society is the very thing that teaches us to suppress it. A lot of you people wish to look outside for the source of this "problem," but the only reason it's a problem is because of social norms, particularly in the religious sectors. Are there STDs? Yes. Are there unwanted pregnancies? Yes. However, because it is only natural to wish to explore one's sexuality, we should be teaching children how to do so safely, not how to avoid it altogether.

It's a shame that people are raised to think the unnatural - suppression - is the natural and that the natural - affirmation - is unnatural and even wrong or evil.

Yeah there are a lot of kids my age that try so hard to drink hard alcohol(liquor, wine, etc.), do different types of drugs and have sex. And really, they all look extremely stupid trying!
