Overall I hated it, mostly due to a very incompetent teacher. He was exactly like my math teacher, he was only capable of helping those who were already down with math.

Winterfells wrote: I wonder if that's similar course/credit requirements as biochem. I have a friend who declared for chem major and bio minor, but ended up just switching to biochem major because she had the credits and courses to be eligible for it. The only difference between a chem track and a biochem track is in the biochem track you have to take biochemistry2. Each school is different tho. |

biology was pretty easy, but I decided to take anatomy instead of chemistry. So glad I did because half the grade failed chem that year and I passed anatomy with an A.

biology is not too difficult but i never learned for the test in school.
i never really liked chemistry but it seems like its going to haunt me at least for 1 semester. studying engineering is otherwise fun and exciting werent it for the chemistry part... |

Biology was easy but boring. I really like the friends I made in that class though.
Chemistry was super fun! I had a little more trouble in it but I really enjoyed it. |

Big fan of both, although Chemistry slightly more. There is so much satisfaction which can be derived from correctly performing calculations, balancing redox reactions, and whatnot.
Biology was great, except for all the damned drawing. I'm a pretty bad artist to begin with, and some of those specimens can get pretty detailed. I'm thinking archegonium/antheridium here... |

Biology felt like Chemistry Lite.
That said, I found chemistry more enjoyable and almost pursued chemical engineering. |

Fortunately, I never had to take Biology (though it was a requirement for Chem and the Earth Sciences in my school), because I never would have made it through. I specifically didn't do my homework and took the F in general science because the teacher said that those that didn't finish their homework wouldn't be able to participate in the frog dissection. Even being in the same room was tough. I glanced back for an instant and nearly hurled. Can't stomach the whole guts hanging out thing.
Chemistry was great, though. It was the perfect class to read what I wanted and catch up on my sleep. I think I slept through 70% - 80% of the course. Still aced the class. The class wasn't too happy that I got 100% on the final, since it was graded on a curve. Especially since the next highest was grade was a C. The teacher took me and the lowest scores out of the curve. Lucky for me, as there was about to be a lynch mob forming. Still, it was a fun class when we actually did any experimentation. The earth sciences were pretty good too. The teacher gave out a ton of extra credit because his classes were supposedly hard, so I had over 100% in both classes (Earth Science and Geology). I stopped bothering with any homework in Earth Science after I had 120% at the midterm. I found science to be interesting. This was all high school science, because I didn't really go to college. After taking a few courses, I was very disappointed. I'd heard that things were more difficult in college, but it was the same old crap. Even worse, in addition to the same boring routine of repetitive homework/schoolwork, I had to pay to learn nothing. |

The sad truth tends to be, unless you go for engineering, health sciences, or something of the like, college really does seem like High School 2.0 until you get into at least your junior year. So yeah, it really does seem like a waste if you aren't going for something very specific... |
