It is rather strange that before people wre like the reborn Ramses and Napoleon et cetera. After too many people went "pffft", people were the reborn servant of Ramses and Napoleon et cetera. And of course the medium is always a reborn sorceress or such.

Although some religions specify what happens when you die (well, after, science explains what happens WHEN you die), in some religions you can make up your own mind. You don't have to accept the church's teachings, especially if holy scriptures don't directly imply anything.

Reincarnation is the form of afterlife hardest for me to believe in. First you must have an essence (or soul) that can outlive you. Then it must be able to travel. Then it must be able to transfer into a living organism. Alos it must logically have a consciousness or instinct to do these things, unless there is a divine power that distribute this essence, but that would still be another thing to believe oin. I would say that a burning or glorious afterlife is more likely.

I'm not sure reincarnation would be a good thing anyway. School is so boring. Going through all the tedious things over again. Of course you could be an animal. But that could be tedious too. Birds of prey would be my favourite though. You fly around, and noone bothers you.

Chinese believe that before reincarnation, you have to drink a special soup to erase the memories of your previous life. So you will have to re-experience boring school life again, without know you did it before. =| It'll get boring real fast if you just fly around. Oh well, at least it's better than being reincarnated into someone's left testicle.

the only ones who are reincarnated are the einherjer who, after every day, are hacked to pieces, only to be molded back together at the end of the day with the use of magic.

all others' souls are kept in niflheim. but after ragnarok, niflheim is destroyed, and the souls will simply cease to exist. that, or they move on to a new universe, the eddas are unclear

There have been documented cases of people who believed that they lived several centuries ago. Normally these would be considered as mental cases but in some instances, their names, places lived, friends known have matched people that were on record.

Of course this could simply be a hoax, an incredible form of cell memory, etc, but reincarnation cannot be ruled out.

Personally, i am of the theory that like phantom images (aka ghost sightings), some form of mental energy is released when a great emotional state (fear) is activated. This energy may imprint upon a nearby creature or being, forming the basis of what would be known as reincarnation
