Having done both of them for a long time i would have to say kendo
after a while fencing seemed to be purely about speed while kendo is much more complicated and completly awsome
but i might be biased since i gave up fencing last summer

well, it's true that fencing is a lot more limited compared to kendo.. but i think that casual fencing might beat kendo.. the feel of the saber is more realistic than a bamboo stick.. but i've done none, so i wouldn't know personally.. hehe.. just an opinion

I think that the art of fencing is more refined compared to kendo... But I don't favor fencing over kendo...

hey, those who have done fencing, how do u grip the saber?
in kendo, you grip it mainly with ur left hand, putting pressure on your pinky, ring finger, and middle finger at the bottom of the shinai.. then u support lightly with ur right hand in front... when i just started a few weeks ago, and my senior taught me how to grip it, i was shocked... and seeing how they handled the shinai with only their left hand, i was like.... "Oh My God".. but after a while i got used to swinging and putting pressure in only those 3 fingers.. but still, doing 2 hours a day of that is really tiring.. fencing doesnt look that tiring though..
