I wonder how many are familiar with Japanese noise music? Boredoms, Boris, and Melt Banana? Others are Shonen Knife, Pizicatto Five and the Pillows. on a electronic side Yellow Magic Orchestra/Ryuichi Sakamoto (classic electro), Ken Ishii (techno), DJ Krush (trip hop), Force of Nature (nu-disco), Kyoto Jazz Massive (broken beat), Makoto (liquid drum&bass), Shinichi Osawa (indie electro), Goth Trad (dubstep), and Kuniyuki (deep house). not too big on J-Pop or anime music in general, but have a guilty pleasure for Kyaru Pamyu Pamyu. Yoko Kanno compositions are the exception and beautifully made (and such has generated powerful emotions) particularly for Macross Plus, Escaflowne, Cowboy Bebop (still the greatest anime OST ever), Turn A Gundam, and Ghost in the Shell SAC (have used some tracks for DJ sets much to the surprise of the audience in a good way)

totally forgot about shonen knife. I thought this was just bands, I'd name Dj Mitsu the Beats, Dj Krush and Nujabes then I guess

Hartfield, Oeil and burrrn are all good shoegaze/noise rock groups.

this EP was well good. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZEOX17Oueug
