berries-382 1117 cr points Send Message: 23 / F Offline	Permalink Reply Quote Posted 12/19/09 i think people shouldn`t think THEY can change OTHERS (better or worse) i know i hear how ppl change only with the help of others, support blahblahblah (studying psychology and all) but honestly, i believe that it`s 100% up to the person themselves - since i also believe in self-sufficiency and efficacy. a person who might want to better themselves is going to be selective in who he lets influence him to be better or worse anyways, so i think that it`s already up to the person, as the person has to decide whether he wants to listen to other`s people advice or not.

Well it depends on the definition of change. I think they always think like themselves it just takes them longer to understand things a different way. Their own ideas are always their but it takes them a while to realise they themselves don't agree with themselves. People may be doing something they subconsciously think is wrong and they don't yet realise why they should think it wrong or why they should care, so at the time it is thought of as the right thing in their minds. and I know everyones wants to judge theifs and such but i find it interesting that they can see beyond others ideas of right and wrong and not pick a side till they really know. True they may be only thinking of themselves but i think they have just not yet realised they care. sometimes they end up having more of a heart than ignorant people.

You can change your views and opinions but what is done, is done and you have to live with it. The "once a thief always a theif" thing... it depends on the extent: did they go around breaking into houses and steeling computers or such or did they shoplift candy as teens? technically both are thieves... I will not judge a person just because they might have stolen something at one point in their life. Because I have no knowledge of their reasons. If a thief say they have changed I'll forgive them, I wont trust them entirely until they've proven themsleves turstworthy but I'll forgive them. But the ones I don't trust to ever change are rapists and pedophiles.
