Hmm I don't think sales justify the quality of a game. Popularity yes, but not quality.

Thats a personal opinion. If the game sucked and had horrible quality then it would not have sold.

Half Life 2 is prolly the closest thing to a Halo killer but it did'nt outsell Halo (it will in the future). And I think it is just logical to assume if a game sells 2.4 mil that you can't claim poor quality. I don't think games sell on popularity alone. Even if that is true how did Halo get so popular in the first place?

No no no, I'm not saying that halo sucks or anything, I was addressing your blanket statement that sales=quality.

Technically, the eagles greatest hits album is the best selling album of all time and garth brooks is the best selling artist. Are they of the "best" in terms of quality? I think most people could agree that they aren't. All sales indicate is that people enjoy them, or how popular they are. Quality is something different and isn't dependent on sales.

Halo filled a hole in the market. An easy intuitive shooter that played well on xbox that had great multiplayer support. Thus it sold like crazy. The key thing is that it was designed (or at least fine tuned) for the xbox. Now you have a game that non-geeks can play in the dorms, frat houses, and living rooms. The accessability is what made Halo do so well. As far as the actual game, there really wasn't anything remarkable about it to any veteran PC gamer, but that wasn't the market for Halo. Halo is for the GTA/Madden audience, a market which isn't near as hard to please as veteran PC gamers, and lacks their experience. You can't even begin to compare the physics engine and level of detail in Half Life 2 to Halo. But Half Life 2 wasn't designed to be the FPS multiplayer romp that Halo is, thus it isn't going to do as well.

Now this is a logical argument! That sums it up pretty much.

I think H A L O 3 will suck as much as number two. Because ever since MicroSucks bought Bungie they only produce crappy FPS games.

Agrees, The entire Halo series is mayorly overrated in my humble oppinion, the story mode makes you do the same thing 3 hours in a row, the multiplayer mode, i cant quite put my finger on it but its lacking in a certain aspect, definetly wont but halo 3, feel like i wasted my money with 1 and my friends money with halo 2.

it will probubly be a lil bit of a dissapointment like halo 2 was (was to easy and the story was kinda bleh) online was cool for a bit but then it was still dominated by the better fps

Maybe I'm missing something here but what FPS was better than Halo2 at the time? Lets see...

Doom3/Quake ----------- Even worse story but OK online play.
F.E.A.R. -------------------- Great game but didnt sell
Half Life 2 ------------------ Sold 1.7 mil in 2 months . Halo2 sold 2.4 mil on its first day.
Far Cry --------------------- Half the people couldnt even get it to run, still good, but no Halo
Unreal ---------------------- DAMN good online play. But no story at all.

There was nothing on PS2 or GC at the time. So what other games dominated Halo2 at the time?

Now, Half-Life 2 is DEFINITELY a game that is many, many, many, many times better than H A L O 2. The sad thing about H-L2 though, it was released 6years after the original. The original though, still blows my mind away with it's puzzling gameplay, and amazing script.

I loved the original, it is too much fun. I still can't wait to try the second, I've yet to pick up a copy..

Are you crazy?! Get that game NOW. You don't know what your missing.

I admit it, I bought an XBOX just to play Halo >_> hey it was on sale. Oh and... Half Life 2 was pretty much worse than toilet paper if you ask me, no offence, I just didn't enjoy it at all, opinion's a bitch, get over it.

I`m not sure if halo 3 first person shooter will qualify as a "god", From the game play in the beta it does seem pretty good. But i`m not sure if i`m gonna keep luving a game 10 years old. Its older then everybody assumed. But regardless This game might not even surpass its brother game 'Halo Wars'.
