Rosie O’Donnell has recently made a new show in which advertises gay parenting. What do you think about this? Do you feel it is appropriate to make political statements like that on television?

Personally I am all for gay parenting. I do think there may be some draw backs, but I know a lot of straight parents who completely neglect their children. So, basically I like the moral behind the show.

This being said, I don’t like people trying to push their opinions on me and my children like that. Now, if there were a gay channel then that would be fine. It’s kind of like how, even though I’m not Catholic, I don’t get upset get upset when they play Catholic shows on the Day Star channel.

However, this show is being played (I believe) on The Women’s Channel. Which is a lot like spike. It’s simply meant for shows they find to be entertaining to women specifically. (Mind you I’m a dude and I watch it, [and I’m straight] so it’s not just something meant for -only- women to watch.)

In other words some little girl could turn to that channel and end up having political opinions that her parents may disagree with put down her throat.

I don’t know. I think it would be beneficial to society, but still don’t know if its completely fair. What do you think?

I think its kinda useless. Gay parenting can be explained and summed up in an 1-2 hour special. You don't need a whole show for it.

Unless its like one of those reality shows that follows them around...

One; You have kids?
Two; A parent is responsible for knowing what their child is watching on tele. If you really don't want them watching something like that with technology now a days you can lock the show and or channel from being seen. Not like back when I was little and Friday the 13th was on every halloween.

1. No, I was speaking hypothetically.

2. That is very true. Parents are in charge of being careful of what their children watch. However, because The Women’s Channel is what it is how is she supposed to know that it is going to show gay activist shows? She may not find out until it is too late.

Then again, it’s not like watching a Gay activist show is going to change a kid into a homosexual themselves.

Also, not everybody has a capable system in which allows them to lock things.

Next, what if this was a show coming on…say, Fox, that was antigay. Where the moral to it was “Gay’s choose to be gay, their immoral, and should not be allowed to be near children much less raise them!”?

Exactly. So why is it okay for us gay rights activists to push our stuff down their throats if we're going to get mad at them for retaliation?

Well heres my take on this.

So one of the many reason parents dont enjoy having that show on is because its against the "Norm" of society. It breaks away from what is traditionally done and would rather not have it influence children. So aparently were surpose to make it seem people of the same gender dont love eachother and dont exist.

Basicly your continuing the chain of hatred thats been put on gay couple since the dawn of time.

cuz their show is intolerant while this one tries to open ppls minds and in society's eyes thats ok.
(edit) although that only applies to things society has deemed acceptable something like a show that delves into the minds of pedophile and trys to justify how they feel will get the creator killed by the masses
and to what glormon said i think itd be kinda hard to hide gays nowadays theyre aleady on tv, go ellen ;P

I’m continuing the thread of hate? I told you that I’m a gay rights activist. I just don’t believe in pushing my beliefs down people’s throats like this show is doing. I personally like the theme and message. Just don't like the method in which it is being given.

well i was relying to your question of why gay activists can shove their beliefs down ppl throats while ppl cant retaliate, its because society has deemed their beliefs acceptable making those of ppl against it unacceptable

Do you plan to stop television trying to stuff hetrosexual parenting down our throats as well?

I don’t plan to try and stop anything. I just want to discuss opinions. However, I would be upset if the T.V was trying to stuff heterosexual parenting down people’s throats too. Yes, I would. Mind you having heterosexual parents in a show wont bother. I don’t care if there’s a character or characters in a show that are homosexual or heterosexual. It’s when the only point of that characters existence is to shove some point down my throat that I get annoyed.

Like how that Disney kid's show had an entire episode dedicated to how men are perverts and manipulate girls. That was my favorite. I wouldn’t have cared if they had an episode where their character had a feministic swing in mood. But they actually ended the show with a speech that talked about how perverted men are, trying to make a point to the viewers about how objectify women and how much we all need to stop.

Anyway, I told you that I think this show will be beneficial to our society. I just don’t know if its going about opening minds in the right way. This is probably just going to repulse the people who its trying to reach out too.
