The book is almost always better than the movie in my opinion. It is just not the same as reading it. I like to imagine how the characters look like myself instead of having it shown to me. I usually am disappointed on how they portray characters in the movies. I also hate how they sometimes change the plot and take out characters and scenes.

Yup!! The book is always better than the movie since the movie has to resize everything to fit into the time limit. In my opinion, they cut too many scenes ^^ But the movie Stardust was absolutely brilliant though xD

Lord of the Rings ss the best example for this category,I think ^^ The book itself was awesome and the movie was breathtaking. In my opinion, the best part of the movie is the fact that they choose the characters carefully..not like some of the other books-turned-movies ^^ And the scenery for the movie ---absolutely beautiful !!

Yeah, the cinematography for Lord of The Rings was absolutely great. And the character casting was done brilliantly.

Well basically they're going to ruin twilight....its pretty much screwed over. Harry Potter was good...but the books are better.
Some movies do good and others just don't work.

Nothing beats the original story. At least for me, I understand and feel the story more when I have read the book because reading has a totally different plane... They have a much more deeper grasp of ideas and concepts, which are limited somehow in movie adaptations. Through reading, we can have the full use of our imagination; however in movies, we are usually limited by what we see and hear. Because of this, I believe some avid readers or book fans are hard to please and are usually disappointed with movie adaptations as they have certain expectations that are not met. Because of this, to make movie adaptations feasible and realistic, original stories are altered. Because of this, some movie adaptations do work or do good and some do not. On the whole, I believe it all depends on how the movie is adapted... the whole enchalada as they say...

Exactly my point. One of the hardest part to get right are the characters themselves. For instance, the book may say that XXX is someone with dark hair and beautiful eyes..sounds easy, rite? But the effect might not be always correct..and it just kills off my interest to watch the movie.

Every good book is getting turned into movies nowadays. All because those stupid producers want to make more money by attracting book lovers to watch the movie. They're ruining all the good books!!Even if there are already a lot of failures with those movies adapted from books, they still keep on making those kind of movies. It's hard to find a good book that's actually good and not being turned into another lousy adaption.

i think books are always better than the movies....they kinda change it a lot when they make it into a movie....i suggest when there is a movie that's based on a book read the book first then watch the movie...so that you'll know what actually happened...

The books, in my opinion, are always better. Nothing can beat ones personal imagination when it comes to the characters, Though I do have to agree that I did adore Stardust. The Harry Potter books were turned into half butchered films and they are in the making of the movie 'Twilight' based off the new book Twilight. The person playing Edward does not match my overactive imaginations retrospect of the perfect teenage vampire.
