Yea! books are always better than their movie counterpart!
Thats why i always watch the movie first so i wont be disapointed! XD

But its horrible that movie makers make wonderful mockeries of our favourite books,
though i have to say lord of the rings was pretty good with its scenery and choice of actors (i hope the hobbit will be just as good)
i reckon harry potters been totally mangled but the choice of actors was so good... especially snape!

But one thing i hate about when movies come out is that they change the original covers of all the books to some weirdo picture or scene from the movie..

Books are ALWAYS better than movies coz u get 2 imagine a character(image) in ur head when u read and in the movie, the character is already chosen for u.
Thus it reduces the fun of imagination and if the movie has got a crappy character(as in a actor/actress who doesn't suit well with the particular character in terms of personality, etc) it just degrades everything..

Well, I love books better than movies though there are some great movie adaptations!
With books, you get to imagine all the places, their appearance and everything and sometimes, the movie is disappointing or it has some plot twists and scenes that were not in the books. The original one is better, of course. So yeah, I think books are better than movies.

I'm looking forward to that one too.Plus The Hobbit which has now began production work ^__^

I mean, there's nothing wrong about making a book into a movie, but sometimes, those book-turned-movies doesn't meet our expectations >_< After watching the movie, you tend to look at the story in a different way,am I right?

Books are of course better than movies. In books, you can always imagine a scene using your own imagination. Whereas in movies, they act out the scene for you and you're just dumbly sitting there watching it without using your mind to think, to reflect on the feelings of the characters.
In addition, scenes portrayed in books are always cut out in movies and usually, new scenes are added in to spice up the movie. (Which is very annoying to me )

I think i like books even better 'cause it's originally wrote by the writer.
But, movies make me understand the plot even better!
I think I like both...

Movies are crap compared to books...they spoon feed you all the information and suffocate your imagination...and most of the time they destroy or make a mockery of the book. I would rather have the story from the author's point of view rather than hollywood's interpretation.Books all the way!!

the movies are never as gud as the books and it gets me annoyed sometimes but i try to keep in mind movies r more like adaptions then replicas. But yeah most movies get it wrong in my opinion and the most i recent i think is the new twilight movie like common as if dat actor is edward!! calming down lol... but my fave adaptions probably sense and sensibility wit hugh grant n kate winslet (it might be that its one of my fave books) alan rickman was a great Colonel Brandon...luved him as the character and its weird coz his like 100 lol...

I totally agree... Edward seemed so much smexxier in my head >.>;;

Books are better as I prefer to use my imagination, and its kills the characters when they look all different to how I imagined. Though sometimes its cool to see it acted out! ^^

I think that books are better than the movie. the characters and places have more depth in books. when made into movies important pieces are usually cut out or changed. howls moving castle is one of my fav anime, but the book was better, it gave more into the backgound of the characters the ending was different and you found out that howl was from our world. or stephen kings book IT was very different in places from the series.

Yeah,that's all totally true,though.
But,a lot of people who don't really read books love to watch movies, that's way books-turned movies are so popular. As long as it is,the movies adapted from books are gonna keep coming.

Well I am def looking forward to a few *cough* Twilight *cough* haha but they usually seem ok...

I don't, however, like it when they make a book a movie and it either falls flat and doesn't seem like the book at all or they dont follow the story line like they should....

Books are almost always better than the movies, movies leave out too many parts of the book usually and end up taking out important parts of the plot, some of the funniest part in the book, or little moments that just made the book so amazing.

The only exception I have ever seen to this is Lord of the Rings. I did see the movie first, but the books were confusing at parts. The print was tiny and the whole thing put together was 1000 pages! But I can excuse that because J.R.R Tolkien wrote the books for himself not for others.

Lord of the Rings will always remain one of my favorite movies, the actors had such feeling and the castles, creatures, forests, and everything was just so real and amazing!! No movies these days are like that. They'll just pick a famous actor to make more money, not caring if they don't look like any of the characters in the books at all!

It really annoys me when they make some books into movies because sometimes if I like the movie, it destroys the image I had of the character when I read the book. I completely hate it when that happens because then when I think of the character I can only think of the actor's appearance.
