You can get proteins and the essentials from other things other than animals...
I enjoy being a vegan..

We would have to work out one kick-ass food distribution program, and find a hell of a lot of work for people. I'm not just talking tribes in Africa that depend on their cattle, I'm talking anyone employed for a steakhouse, Slaughter houses, butchers, meat inspectors, etc. Living in a world were we all lived in peace with nature would be nice, but we would have to solve more issues than just 'turn vegan.' (spoken like a true vegie, eh? haha)

Yeah but if we were already vegans then there wouldn't be any butchers or slaughter houses and so on...

^I was thinking Iike we all just decided right now. I like to live in the moment.

But even then, would we have a job shortage? Before I forgot to mention clothing industries as well. Would there be a high infant mortality/ malnourishment problem? Because the distribution program we have now is terrible.

If you're looking for the answer Utopia, there would still be a lot of issues that needed covered.

As I said before, I am a vegetarian (vegan in college most likely) it just clashes with the realist in me.

Why would there be a high infant mortality? I agree the with you on the distribution program.. Job shortage? More like we would have a lot of farmers and stay at home moms.. We are always going to have issues there is no way around that and I'm not asking for a perfect Utopia!

stay at home mom.... it's a life choice but you don't make money. We have enough food, we just can't distribute it, so why would we get so many new farmers? Certainly not enough to replace all the lost jobs. And because we don't have the system of sending foods to places that depend on their cattle (I'm thinking tribes here, I watch a lot of discovery) then there wouldn't be enough nutrition for the children to survive. We have that problem now when they can eat meat.

[EDIT]
I would just like to be clear that I support stay at home moms, I would even like to be one at some point, but it really isn't a job, technically speaking.
