Just recently I discovered, while reading my local newspaper, that my state, North Carolina, had the highest drop out rate in the U.S., surprisingly enough this fact did not shock me at all, by then I had witnessed many of the students in my own school dropping out, as well as in my middle school, where 17 years old students were still left behind in the 7th grade, (no joke, this actually happens here)

But most of the drop outs from my high school, were not dumb or incapable of passing, in fact a surprising number of them were fairly intelligent, and others were even Honor society material, most would usually cite boredom or stress, as their reason for dropping out, others would do so to enter the work force and support their families, or just thought school sucked too much, So my question is......

What are your thoughts on dropping out?
And those who do?
Why do you think someone would want to drop out?
Have you ever wanted to drop out?
Or have you done so already?

To tell you the truth, if I didn't need a high school dlipoma to get into the military, I would have dropped out before the first week of my freshman year was over, and used the time to fully prepare my mind and body for the military, I haven't learned much from school since 5th grade, and most of the knowledge I am gifted with, I aquired outside of school through my own means, I'm basically there for that little peice of paper now

Bare in mind, I'm not into ANY form of social event, such as Prom or Homecoming, since I hate people in general, I hate sports, and have absolutely no school spirit, Also I have NO friends, So basically I wouldn't be missing anything

Its probably the most stupid thing you can do... School is the most important thing... If you drop out it will become much more difficult to get a good job.
I will stay at school as long as i can.

I never even considered dropping out as an option for me, but im kind of a book work. I think if you really honestly know what you want to do in life and it doesnt involve something academic, then dropping out of high school is ok, as long as you have other plans. But if you drop out for something like you were bored or stressed and just end up working at a macdonalds, then thats just dumb. Unless you are ultra talented in some other way, education is the only way that can pretty much guarantee a better standard of living. But there are other educations besides high school.

It never passed through my head to drop out of school...basically because my parents will beat the ^$@# out of me. I don't LOVE my school, but I like it because of the people inside, like my friends. And I learn a lot too. But different people have different lives and not everybody is super intelligent or have the same goals. Maybe they have trouble at home too. Still, if somebody I knew wanted to drop out of school I would urge them to at least finish high school. Even if it's to pursue a goal, you don't know what life will bring and it's nice to have a back up plan.

it would be retarded to drop out, your future would be rough and gay... not saying drop outs cant be successful, but it would make it a lot harder on them when they face reality without any education

i don't think i'd ever want to drop out of school. as much of a pain i sometimes think it is, what with tests and all XP that doesn't mean i would want to get rid of my education. also, if i didn't go to school, i wouldn't have any friends. and i think if i didn't have friends, i'd go CRAZY

here in california 64% of the high school dropouts are from basic algebra like pre-algebra (the ones your suppose learn in middle school)

I suppose if you have truely legitimate reason, and I mean truely, then it might be okay. Legitimate does not mean because you think school is lame, or that your band is going to make it.

dropping out has to be the worst idea ever. high school drama is stupid too. but worst of all is those people who leave becuse it is to hard or leave becuse they feel there is no reason to stay. no matter where you go if you want a well paying job you need to stay in school. (okay there are the few lucky ones who never had to do shit b/c of there rich parents....)
honestly dont kill you life its only a fraction of your life. so stick with it and bite the bullet...

Man, there's no reason to pick a field in Kentucky anymore.
I'm telling you, Kentucky probably has more restaurants than any other state.
