Nuclear bomb.

They're so powerful, and yet nobody dares to use them.

I have to give yo that excellent point.

I disagree. Nuclear weapons work exactly as they have been designed to, and they have been, out of necessity, well-designed. The reason no one wants to use them is precisely because they are so well-made. They excell at the one purpose for which they were created: Mass destruction and slaughter. Since no government to date wants to shoulder the responsibility of plunging the entire world into nuclear winter, they remain unused, a threat that keeps the nuclear nations in check, forcing them to use conventional methods and ordenance. Do they directly affect anything themselves? No. They sit in their silos, gathering dust. But their presence has to this day kept these nations from simply nuking each other, for fear of mutual devestation.

Religion - Sure, it's useful at the time to obliterate any spiritual resistance of a people, and break them down, making the absorbing easier. You see? You’ve proved a point I’ve been trying to make to all those ignorant antireligious people who like to pretend religion is the bane of existence. Religion makes a bad weapon. Why? Because -it is not meant to be used as a weapon.- Christianity and its history is the perfect proof of this.

Let’s look at the Catholics- The Crusades were initially a hit. The first Crusade went magnificently, but then the use of religion as a weapon backfired and it failed.

Let’s look at the Muslims- The use of suicide bombers and the attack of Jews, Christians, and Atheists has alienated the Muslims and bred a negative image that they are all murderous idiots in the minds of the rest of the world.

Let’s look at some protestant groups- The use of religion to justify slavery and prejudice and judgmental ignorance (Which is stupid because the protestant bible says that gods opinion is always right and Romans 2:11 says “For God does not show favoritism!”) has created the false stereotype that Christians are ignorant and that their religion is a tool.

I also love how it’s okay for you to sit here and say that religion is a sham, and weapon made by man, but if I were to come up to you saying, “You’re beliefs are wrong you foolish moron! Convert to the ways of God!” Then you’d get ticked off. People are so hypocritical.

Off topic, srry.
Well, this post is why I like the practicing Jews so much. They have a mass of influence but do not use it as a means to justify themselves into some imperialistic campaign.

There are Christian sects that do the same, but they’re smaller so they’ve not been put up to the same temptations of abuse. Which leads me to my next complain! People need to stop summing all Christian groups up in one lump! I’m sick of people citing the Crusades against my religion! I’m a protestant, not a Catholic! The Catholics slaughtered my people just like they slaughtered the Muslims! (Nothing against modern Catholics, but the church was intensely corrupt back in the days.)

Exactly.

Being a Christian is really hard these days.

I'm sure it's hard being muslim or Jewish too.

Actually the Second and Third Crusades were the most successful. The First crusade consisted mainly of a few poor knights, some even poorer soldiers and a lot of peasants that pretty much got wiped out. The Fourth crusade never even saw the holy land and instead sacked the fellow Christian city of Constantinople.

The first Crusade was the only one to succeed.

I am afraid we're going to have to agree to disagree on that one.
