They're so powerful, and yet nobody dares to use them.

I agree.

I also agree with this. Why have them if no one uses them but for threats?

@Fend- Well, typically I try and keep it to mature debate. But when somebody straight forward denies -fact- then there’s not much for debate and I usually end up leaving the whole thing off with a terse message like that.

I’m just bluntly honest about everything, regardless my relationship to it. A lot of people at my church hate me because I stood up to a preacher who was telling us that we should be narrow minded and judgmental towards gays. (In prettier words, of course.)

Once upon a time I could come onto CR and have a mature debate. People may disagree on key issues, but we had our arguments set out and actually thought before we posted. Although we often tried to be controversial (for the sake of showing precisely how we feel) we were also respectful.

However, it seems all the intellectuals have left and now there are a bunch of children who get mad whenever you prove them wrong and start with petty insults. In other words nobody respects me so I don’t bother respecting them. I’m blunt and straight forward, even though its counter productive, because that’s the world. Fail to conform and you’re just going to alienate yourself anyway.

Plus, I’ll call people up and the stupid crap they say.

Why does someone have to worry about expressing their opinion without a bunch of facts?

They don’t. Its when their opinions contradict fact and they still refuse to accept the truth put before them that bothers me. Now, they’re welcome to it. But then they call me ignorant for having an opinion based on fact, rather than just having an opinion because its politically acceptable and they agree with it.
