So what is The Cool? & what does it mean?

i think.... the cool is infact whats not really cool in our soceity. The Cool is drug dealers & gangsters & ignorance & hos & pimps & kids that shoot up schools. The cool is gloryfied disfunctional behavior.

The cool is infact Uncool.....

[thats my opinion.... im gonna surf the net & see if i can come up with something from Lupe on what the Cool is.....]

When i first heard "The Cool" i was listening to the music, which i liked, then i started to pay attention to the lyrics. I think "The Cool" means what you described and the isolation most of these groups feel within our society. I also think it may also mean something like a "Cool" reception they may feel within our society. I don't know iam thinking outloud!!!!

2 of my favs (that stood out after listening to the album for the 1st time)

Little Weapon & Gotta Eat....

Little Weapon- lupe murked on this one... the lil weapon isnt a traditional gun... it starts out as a video game controller... basically he's addressing lil kids & video game violence, the whole child immitation thing, if u shoot ppl on a video game, youre likely to do it in real life..... Gran Theft Auto ------> VA tech

or this could also be addressing the WAR as well, the president controling troops using them as tools of death

Gotta Eat- Lupe uses nothing but food referances to discribe the hunger of a drugdealer.... its crazy

Nice, that's the first time I've ever seen actual depictions of the different characters Lupe talks about. That's pretty sick.

Little Weapon is also one of my favorite songs, Lupe (or rather Bishop G) touches on controversial things like violence in video games & children being used as soldiers

Intruder Alert is my dad's favorite song =P. But the whole album is sick.

haha I don't dislike Go Baby, but it's not my favorite. It seems like it wasn't really intended to be a part of the album but more of a bonus track for his female fans =P

********* INTERESTING STUFF TO KNOW WHEN LISTENING TO THE COOL ***********
===============================================================================================

Before i get to the music.... a bit of personal info about Lupe

After the success of Food & Liquior a year later Lupe's dad dies, his business partner & close friend (Chilly... thats what all the Free Chilly is about).... he gets locked up for nearly a lifetime sentence over some drug charges, & His Aunt gets murdered in a violent robbery. [all of this is covered in the song +Fighters+]... that some of the reason why the album is said to be kinda dark

i think Lupe is experiencing the Eminem syndrome.... the Fame & pressure seems like its starting to get to him

@ first i thought the 3 characters (the Cool, Streets, & Game) on the Cool were symbolic of the 3 loved ones Lupe has lost.... (there might be some linkage but im not quite sure)

Pre-Ludes to the Cool (from Food & Liquior):

He Say, She Say & The Cool (the song), you gotta peep these in order to know some of the beginings

The Cool:

The 4 basic songs are: The Coolest, Streets is on Fire, The Die & Put you on Game... all relating to each character

More of my findings later (go 2 next page)

Yeah. I haven't listened and analized the album but I was very confused watching the video for Superstar. It took me a while to understand what was happening. Then again, this is what happens when you get used to the generic music video plot.
