NO WAY. You are probly the only human being that I have ever heard say that............... wow........... im in complete shock

If you think Lupe is wack then no wonder you hate so many 2nd & 3rd generation rappers. Lupe is clearly TOP 5 of this generation.

If you've read his post in the "old school vs. new school" thread.............you can see that he clearly believes the 1st generation is the Golden Age of hip hop.

I'm not even gonna diss his point of view, because it's HIS point of view. He loves that generation of hip hop, and I'm not gonna knock on him for that.

THE COOL (fka Micheal Young History)

Resurrected: Amongst the undead since September 2006

Birthplace: Six feet under the Earth's surface

Biography: The Cool is the physical manifestation of History's debt to humanity. Payback for every user abused and every family torn apart by History, The Cool walks amongst the living as a zombie. “He” – that term used lightly, considering The Cool isn't human – reeks of death, an ironic contrast to his polished three-piece-suit appearance. Searching for his purpose, The Cool haunts The Streets.

sidenotes: His only possessions—two diamond earrings, a gold chain, and a letter from History's eight-year-old sister.
Despite the long-finished settling of rigor mortis, the sharp sensation of three bullets constantly causes aching in The Cool.
Only one thought plays in his head like a broken record – "Hustler for death, no heaven for a gangster."

THE STREETS

Born: Conceived thousands of years ago, when the first paths and roads were paved.

Birthplace: Unknown

Biography: A temptress like none other, The Streets possesses an uncanny knack for seduction and betrayal. An equal opportunity heartbreaker, she exudes an allure irresistible to both men and women. Some have accused her of pedophilia, having lured people into her tangled web at ages as immature as eight years old. The word “love” isn’t in her vocabulary – although The Game is her admitted soulmate. Yet, The Streets has always felt a peculiarly strong connection with Michael Young History.

sidenotes: Often referred to by her condemners as a "demon in a dress."
No stranger to loss, she's tattooed the names of her murdered ex-boyfriends across her breasts.
Her ambitions are clear upon eye contact, with dollar signs in the place of her pupils.
Witnesses to History's slaying reported seeing brown, almost Hennessy-colored tears roll down The Streets.

THE GAME

Born: Given life the moment the snake suckered Adam and Eve

Birthplace: The Garden of Eden

Biography: An immortal, soulless entity, The Game scours city blocks and country landscapes with equal menace. Scheming from morning until night, he changes targets like the wind – hustlers, politicians, celebrities, and impressionable youth have all succumbed to his charms. His most valued accomplice is his wife, The Streets. Together, this "Bonnie and Clyde" duo have affected the lives of every man, woman, and child. The victim closest to their affections, however, was Michael Young History, a tortured man seeking acceptance through fame and fortune. Of course, nothing from The Game comes without a price.

Sidenotes: Quite convincing, his foolproof method of touching minds is through blunt fingertips.
Through his wire-tapped ears, he’s able to hear the approaching of any enemy.
When not hovering over common society, he lives behind bars, plotting ways to see his son, Heroine, and secretly conversing with his marital lover, The Streets.
Despite carrying out such heartless actions, The Game does have a blood-pumping system – an amplified system pumping beats through woofer-like veins.

~texts straight from Lupefiasco.com ... so its not bullshit

my analysis: The COOL loves the STREETS & was raised by the GAME. Since Micheal had no father the GAME became that fatherly figure for Micheal & together the STREETS & the GAME created the COOL

Wow what a load of bullshit for a hip hop album... it starting to look more on a Rpg game....
This guy is not underrated... hes not bad... but pls dont overrate this guy i saw him freestyle in a youtube vid. and omg that was seriously wack... there are soo many better Mc's out there....
Mc's u prob never heard of on US radiostations :p

This just caught my attention. Lupe, undisputed, is one of the top 5 best 3rd gen mainstream rappers (TI is on my top 10 most overrated). crasyjak, I strongly disagree on Jay-Z's music. He WAS good, keyword being 'was', but now, I'll go down to a dump and try to find garbage that's as bad as his lyrics (but it won't be found). Niggas just stop trying or something. I'm like Wow. Don't even fuckin' rap then. You're just degrading the game. By the way, Lupe's very artistically creative with his albums (figuratively and literally speaking). Bramboe is right, everyone has their own taste, opinions and whatnot but you might want to reconsider man. For a mainstream, he deserves a lot of props cause he's trying to rap in a world of rap with no real rappers. I speak as a lyricist when I say this, "it's hard to rap when there's no inspiration". Think about it man. Seriously, if someone signed me, I'd be doing performances with that guy cause that's the respect he should be getting. Respect just for trying, for making it. Other niggas can freestyle and post up youtube vids and try to get some hits but this guy is doing "it". He's trying to be "it" you know? (which is more than I can say for these half-assed "rappers"). I grew up to rap and I surround myself with it everyday and Lupe doesn't get the props he deserves but yeah, there are a lot of people that only know about Superstar and Kick, Push. He has great beats and a good rapping voice. His lyrics are chilled out, not really on the "oh shit that's deep son" type but you can just relax to his shit. You don't always have to be serious, you just have to remember the basics; the foundation that made you "you" and I think Lupe tries to convey that sometimes just by looking at his album and description.

Well i do agree.....and Disagree

Rapper these days lost the touch that made them main stream. Such ass the Real, True, hardcore, street, etc shit. I Think lupe is Definitely on top of his game. He is a huge hit because he is still hungry and he has not gone commercial he is still lyrically a demon. But So was Mr. West and his last album was a piece of trash...so who know we will see what happens when he makes his 4rth album...

***Side Note***
Jay-Z is a Great rapper, I know that this is a matter of opinion but in all his music...he stays lyrical. you got to give him props for that... along with....

Nah man. Jay-Z was (keyword was) a great rapper. His game's so bad now. He couldn't connect punchlines even if he were hosting 2 proms and a buffet. Seriously, he has no more game, he's done, he's full (of it). I haven't heard a decent song, nah wait fuck that, a decent RHYME in too long man. Wayne made a few hits and then what? I only heard a few good punchlines from him (sad to say that I heard his work before) and that was it. Fuck the club music bullshit and write some real shit for a change. Cam'ron's been out of the game but he was pretty alright back a while ago when he was kinda in but I haven't heard anything from him unless you update me. Rap's been dead for a while and it's asking to be revived. If anything, Tablo from Epik High should be getting props but no one's mentioned him. What's good with it?

I agree when i said jay Z i meant the old skool shit...not this new trash....I would not say hip hop is dead tho...

Truth Is

Hip hop is in a state of change..... It came from beat boxin, to hard core gangsta rappin, to the "Real" (which is the struggle and pain), to the dreams (Cars, Clothes , Girls), to Violence (self explanatory), to this club shit...

I was watchin some clips from nelley and Soilja boy and some other artist in the rap game...and its true. Our generation of Hip hop is phasing into the old skool. We growing up and the people we use to like such as: Jay Z, Nas, 50 (if u into that), 2 pac, Biggie, etc... are now of the old skool day and age....

We still got Lupe, nas, and some other rappers out there trying to "bring hip hop back" but the fact of the matter is they going to phase out too... Because the new generation of young skoolers dont wanna hear the real or the dream....they wanna hear the bounce dance shit....and thats what hip hop is changin to...

first off Jay-Z never fell off such words are blasphmy lol you just arent appreciating his works and yea every artist has a bad song or too I mean look at Nas dude doesnt just have some bad song he has bad albums lol. Hova is gonna be known as one of the greatest rappers alive along side of the Notorious.

NOW...

Back to lupe lol. First the man goes harder than anything I have heard I mean I am a fan of common, talib, kanye, and jay-z that is my style. But this guy raps harder than any of them lol. Only person better is BIG, and I only say that out of respect for the dead, the lines in lupe's songs are so intricate and deep that you find something new everytime you listen.

"My greatest enemy is my inneh me" the dude has skills beyond compare lol

I just got the farenheit 1/15 album lol thing is sick.

I think Lupe's what rap needs. Seriously, this guy came out fresh, just went with it, proved he can change flows within the second. His word play is fuckin' sick, no lie about that and just when you think there's nothing else to write about, he'll write about it. I think he's a good mix of natural freestyling mixed with talented song creating (as in there is a good harmony with the beat) with some good-natured humor. This guy cracks me up.
