IQ test. hahaha. anyway, a smart person is good in making desicions, judgement, able to communicate well, has good memory(right brain enhanced) OR a creative thinker, great in literature, good in the arts, or a great musician.( left brain enhanced)

I deduct someone as smart when
1. He/she is open minded
2. He/she is idealistic and imaginative.
3. He/she likes to say far-fetched things
4. Talks something futuristic
5. Talks about possibilities.
6. Does not follow strict rules and uses own path. -- Original.
Smart is not based on IQ test or good homeworks or can answer things easily.
I see smartness when someone thinks before talk and be objective.
When she/he is creative but easily distracted and sensitive, that isn't smart. That's cheap human. ( remember what Near said )

To me there are different kinds of smart. There are people who are "book smart" or really smart when it comes to academics. There are other people who are "street" smart. There are even some who are both. There's not really a way to tell if someone is smart or not unless you are giving them an IQ test but once again, that's just academically. There are different kinds of smart. There are people who are really good in school but couldn't live out on the streets for a day because they wouldn't know what to do and vice versa. It's kinda hard to explain but being smart isn't just about being good in school.

when you talk to a smart person, he/she will do the following:
1. Make you happier

3. Increase your understanding, making them more complete
4. Raise your thinking to a higher level
The qualities that person should have are
1. Compassionate
