How do you decide someone is smart or not?

momiji-no-kimi 3435 cr points Send Message: 18 / M Offline	Permalink Reply Quote Posted 10/20/11 some people are actually smart even if they suck at school. seriously there are just moments u go "aaaaaaaahhhh this guy is not as dumb as he looks" theres this guy in my class who barely shows up every other week and everyone makes fun of him for being such a smartmouth dumbass but he still manages to pass every other paper, and the end of years with actually some good results. cuz i actually checked up on his grades for "research purposes". now that is what i call talent.

But mostly Why do YOU get to decide if someone is smart or not? HUUUUUUUH???

A degree doesn't define smart though, people are smart in different ways. People tend to make fun of artists because "Your kid could do a better painting" well no...actually they couldn't. Do you ever consider the technique/materials used, reason behind it? No. Same principle with other things. I could chant you the periodic table but I wouldn't know the first thing about Picasso or the renaissance period in art for example or anything else outside my studying field. Sorry I just got annoyed when some guys in my class were making fun of the art department -__- dicks. One guy in there has a calculator for a brain but he chose the art path because thats what he wanted to do.

Someone else might define a stupid person as someone who they feel doesn't think enough about anything and everything, as they are unable to talk to them about the topics they want them to talk about. : / Can a stupid person be someone who just judges too quickly? If you're judging all of the time, how can you possibly be moving beyond whatever mommy and daddy taught you?

A person could present themselves as stupid yet they are actually pretty smart, a person attempting to look or be smart might actually be stupid. I say put them through a mental game. and if they can figure out a hard puzzle or something then they are smart
