Lawl...

Lord of the Flies... if there was no camera crew and outside intervention, I'm pretty sure it might turn out exactly like it does in LOTF.

Someone (usually the older ones) want to be leader. The social outcast would be hated and shunned out. The young ones crying and confused while the older ones will have no tolerance and spazz at them.

I wouldn't even be surprised that they will even try and procreate.

Then again, if there was no camera crew and outside intervention...

said what???

i just watched the trailer, if you want to make an accurate representation, of US democracy, even if its an idealistic experiment, the kids all seem to me to be from middle/upper middle class familys, no lower-class kids & no upper-class kids seem to be in the mixture...but maybe im thinking too much into this show?

In one of the previews it shows them having to decide between slaughtering the chickens or not. I, being a bit of an animal lover here, couldn't help but think that they wouldn't do it right. I doubt any of them know how to kill a chicken instantly, and chickens feel pain! Plus to have an 8 year old, watching that who may or may not have experience being near death and blood before, is horrible.

how do you expect them to eat the chicken? eat it alive? oh wait, it feels pain that way too... I hate it when people think of retarded logics like this, you'll be the first to die off in any disaster.

ever see kids squish bugs and chase animals? oh noes, death is horrifying.

Umm…Obviously there are nicer ways to kill a chicken than to eat it alive, and obviously these children aren’t going to know how to do it. There was no ‘retarded logic’ to what she said.

As far as her dying first in a disaster, totally pointless comment. That exists for the sole sake of being insulting. Please refrain from such things in the future. Sure, fit some insulting connotations in your words, but don’t just type something that doesn’t contribute anything for the sole sake of making somebody mad.

Much obliged.

actually that sounds sort of interesting...i would go on that show myself. :)

since there are 14 and 15 year olds, i don't think that it would be too much of a problem because they know more about structure and how to do things. and about that chicken...obviously someone will know how to create a fire out of something. it's not like they grew up not learning how to do anything.

And the chicken thing is no big deal, but considering that you're an animal lover, I think you might be more scarred for life than them.

I don't think I could ever kill a chicken. They're incredibly tasty and all, but I'd have to have someone kill it for me. Not because I'm a huge animal lover or anything, it just seems really gross & messy. And I hate being dirty.

14 year old children aren't as mature as you seem to think. You honestly believe that they'll have no problem forming a make-shift government and have the ability to keep order over a group of forty kids and, not only keep themselves, but also the younger ones, safe/fed/alive?

you posted about it first, so the fault falls on you.

you won't really survive on eggs alone, you're not really going to satisfy your hunger on eggs alone, and there's a group of children, the chicken would support the kids alot more than eggs.

another thing, you're forgetting 99% of the shows we see are scripted and planned, they never show what's behind the scene, it's all mindless entertainment.

There’s no doubt a mature 14 or 15 year old is incredibly rare, but I’ve seen a few. I know a guy who started providing for his family when he was 14. He’s 19 now, but he was just as mature then. Although, he’s actually mature for most 20-30 year olds.

The show probably brought the oldest kid on because they thought he was mature and could help organize the whole thing. Reality shows are totally set up. They take people who have personality traits that will work with the rest of the people involved to either create controversy or give the show structure. This is most likely the latter.

The fault falls on me? I'm sorry, but I assumed that most people would have the common sense to realize that you can either keep a chicken for its eggs, or for slaughter...and maybe a chicken will keep a group of children fed for a day, but then its gone. A chicken lays eggs continuously (that is if its a hen, not a rooster).
...and once again your missing the main point. I'm not wondering if they're capable of killing a chicken with their bare hands, I just found it disgusting^^

Speaking of chickens, why don't they get some of those long hens? They'll lay long eggs:

A bunch of those can definitely feed 40 kids.
