Ya, suddenly most of the new animes posted are not subbed. I was psyched to find CR because of all the subbed content. A lot of what I want to watch that was subbed is now taken down due to licensing, too.

I am having a very hard time finding anything to watch anymore. I would LOVE to watch all the new content but I can't because I don't speak Japanese well enough. :(

Raws and trailers are no fun. I am glad they are here for those who can understand them, don't get me wrong. Just feeling left out, suddenly.

What do you all think?

I would like it if there was a RAW category on its own. Sifting through it all is a bit of a bummer. Be nice if some of the new stuff got subbed. How can we help make this happen?

Thanks for replying,

King Jill

I don't really think of it as a bother (I don't speak nor understand Japanese). I'm just fine with it mixed in the Anime section, I mean, they are animes after all subbed or not. Besides, they are classified into "Anime Raws - insert random anime here". Also, it's more irritating for me when they're uploading those wrong subbed ones. You know those subbed-for-fun-which-are-wrong-on-every-word. But that's just my opinion.

Oh yes! I agree the subbed for fun ones are really bad and not fun to watch at all. Quality control anyone? LOL! Mixed anime section ok then. I guess I would like more subbed content so I can watch too.

Your opinion counts! Thanks for replying

RAWS are currently being collected as well as subtitle files.

from the upload page:

If you are uploading a RAW, you can also upload a subtitle file (srt, ssa, etc.). Right now i'm just saving and collecting the file so its not being used yet. i'm working on making it display in the video player!

also, "not enough content" that's pretty bold to say

http://www.crunchyroll.com/anime/?tab=index

consider the episodes per series.....

well, that just pertains to me, i guess. it's just my opinion based on how i use the site. for me most of the series i want to see are all licensed or raws, in terms of animes only. I was talking about just animes. which is mainly what i am here to see.

it may sound bold to you, but we don't all use the site the same or to watch the same content. for me, i feel there is suddenly not enough content in terms of animes i have not seen or that are dubbed. i don't apply my statements to how anyone else may use or view crunchy roll.

thanks for the reply!

maybe it is a good idea to have a separate category for trailers... but of course, that should also be the case for dramas as well...

Exactly my point. In my opinion It's too subjective to say that and correlate it to CR specifically.

Look at this tracker of subbed anime from animesuki, click the link to see the archive of February.
http://www.animesuki.com/archive.php?year=2008&month=2

As you can see, not much variety (out of the 545 torrents released in that month) there so it's not so much the fact that too many RAWS and trailers are being approved, It's expected that RAWS are in more quantity anywhere, be it CR or torrent sites.

Well, you make a great point. And you have given me information I did not have. But know that I don't think CR is doing anything wrong at all. I commented to see how others felt, maybe get some info like you gave me and just get a read on the sudden run of RAWS and trailers.

Don't ever get me wrong, I really like CR. It's a great site that I spend my hard earned money on. That is how much I like this site. I would not spend any money on something I felt had no use to me at all. I hope you are not reading into my posts that I dissapprove of CR.

Thanks for the info and your reply!

Oh not at all. I get your points and IT IS a bit annoying to sift through all those RAWS.

I was just giving info that could help the discussion, like the fact that RAWS are kind of being collected for now. (imagine if we manage to get good use of those sub files that are being collected, many RAWS will get subbed in CR in the future!)

No argument going on =P

Again, another great point. Collecting the RAWS now is a good idea when you think that there are so many anime series that may never be subbed by any one of the many groups out there. CR will have a ready supply to meet the demands of future members. Plus just having an archive of potentially "lost" series is awesome, too.

Now to get past that licensing thing... :-) What's ironic is that I have bought the DVDs to many shows I have seen either here or elsewhere on the internet. Shows I would NEVER have seen if not for CR and other sites. I then lend them to other potential buyers. It seems as if some production companies are actually benefitting from sites like CR.

I wonder if one day soon that licensed shows will somehow be made available on CR and other sites for a small, and I do mean small fee paid by end users. Or for ad revenue. I can imagine a model of delivering content at a low or no fee to the user or by the show producers collecting ad revenue that would most likely work for anyone who is already donating to sites such as CR.

I would put up with limited commercials before or after an episode, if it meant that I could see shows like Gantz, Ghost in the Shell and other licensed and removed anime. I am sure others would as well.

At any rate, please collect the RAWS. I look forward to the day they get subbed and/or I have learned enough Japanese to not need the subs! The RAWS are providing me with even more motivation to continue learning the language.

Thanks again.
