Actually, as mentioned above, the post-credits scene at the dorm room door between Tamao and Nagisa is truly THE VERY END of the show! Honestly, depending on how you interpret that moment, that one scene has the power to negate the entire story and pays the ultimate fan service to Tamao/Nagisa fans. IF you're of the crowd >cough< (NOT me) that believe that they (Tamao and Nagisa) were meant for each other, Nagisa's sad return to the dorms with Tamao waiting for her (NOT to mention that Nagisa ISN'T wearing the flower necklace that she and Shizuma made together) could mean that after thinking about the gravity of everything (the hurt she went through with Shizuma's hesitation/initial rejection and her own guilt of hurting Tamao) she returned to Tamao and left Shizuma. Yeah, well it’s a stretch but that scene is completely unnecessary in the contextual sense and I think is meant not as closure but as a continuation of foreshadowing!

HOWEVER, I loved the ending (pre rolling the credits!) Shizuma finally "growing a pair" so to speak and confessing her love for Nagisa made watching the whole show so worth it for me! I think Shizuma needed the time after her meltdown at the villa and Nagisa's subsequent rise to "possible" Eoile to really be able to separate her love (and the pain of loss) for Kaori and her deep (and different) feelings Nagisa. I think even Shizuma believed Nagisa was a replacement for Kaori in the beginning and it wasn't until seeing her "blossom" so to speak with the trainging for the Etoile elections that she realized she was in love with her and NOT the memory of her former love...

But that's just me!

I believe that if Tamao met Nagisa before she met Shizuma they would be together but that did happen. I think Shizuma and Nagisa is a great couple but then again i fell sorry for Tamao. Hope she find somebody who love her. Ending Rulez

i love the ending, always have been a shizuma fan. like the silent and deep type, especially when they show their crazy side.

as for tamao, wasn't she waiting for a roommate (since kaori was supposed to be her roommate, but was so ill they had to place her somewhere else)? i just wished she had tried to venture out and find new people or new love rather than waiting for someone to come.

i felt like she was in love more in the idea rather than nagisa...

My first time through, I was totally bummed for Tamao. Partly because of how true to Nagisa she had been throughout the series (weirdness aside), and partly because of how Shizuma had spent most of the series really screwing with Nagisa's feelings (though not intentionally). But as I saw this a few more times, I just couldn't help becoming a bigger fan of Shizuma. I don't exactly know why. But now, when I see Shizuma barge into the cathedral, and tell Nagisa she loves her in front of the entire school, I definitely get that warm and fuzzy feeling.

If Tamao had truly cared for Nagisa's feelings, (and not allowed her own desires to cloud her judgement,) she'd have point blank refused to go along with Miyuki's plan to instate them as Etoile altogether. Tamao knew at that point Nagisa was obviously lying to herself about her feelings for Shizuma having ended, and must have known enough of Miyuki's intentions to know the council President was just after Shizuma for herself anyway.

In the end, as harsh as the ending is for Tamao, (and for Miyuki,) both know they should have behaved better, and their actions did little but confuse matters further, and let their friends down at a time when they needed impartiality and support. That's why, imo, despite having a heavy heart, Tamao is stood waiting for Nagisa to return, ready to forgive her for returning to Shizuma.

And with regard to Shizuma in the Cathedral; in real life, she'd probably have been thrown out of school (only months before graduation,) for such actions, shaming her family, shaming herself and ruining her chances for employment and marriage. So her choice to come back to reclaim what was her's wasn't one without consequences. Although as she says outside in the grounds after, it was a spur of the moment thing, she must have known whilst standing at that tree, considering the idea of such a grand entrance, that anything she did afterward would carry a heavy price to pay if she saw it through to the end.

imo, this is why Strawberry Panic stands head and shoulders above so many other yuri anime; there are consquences, and pain, and not everyone walks away happy as it would have been safer to suggest. In real life, someone always wound up getting hurt so that others can be happy, and Strawberry Panic shows that in a way that only say, Aoi Hana or Canaan has go on to since.

Credit to Kimino-sama and the producers - a wonderful end to a wonderful show.

I'm sorry for digging out this topic. Ending of this anime was not satisfying for me. Yes, I like pair of Shizuma and Nagisa like a couple, but I feel very sorry for Tamao. I also feel sorry for Yaya, but the most painful was Kaori's history (I was crying when i watched this, but i cry not only in that scene). I am looking forward for second season, and i hope that creators will make it.

Sadly, the chances of there ever being a second season are almost non-existent. The original author, Sakurako Kimino, finished her version of the tale in the novel/manga canon, which ran separately to the anime. Since the two diverged, and Strawberry Panic was not a commercially outstanding product, Madhouse are not likely to invest more money in it, presuming Kimino-sama would actually let them in the first place.

Your best bet now is fanfiction, apologies.

I loved the ending! But it was too soon. I was so sad when SP ended.
I loved the scene where Shizuma confessed to Nagisa in front of everyone. So romantic. And then she ran out of there with Nagisa. <3

I feel more sorry for Miyuki than Tamao, to be honest. I agree that Tamao seemed more in love with the idea of a roommate than Nagisa.
Miyuki loved Shizuma so much, Shizuma toyed with her feelings and kissed Miyuki as a "joke," and now Miyuki has to go marry some guy after graduation.

On another note, I'm really glad that Yaya got someone.
