I guess "What pops up in your mind..." might mean as much "What do you associate with ...." the word "pure".

In my case, it's the word German word "purpur" ("pure" = "pur" in German), which translates to "crimson". Apart from that, "pure" reminds me of snow, milk, destillate, core, like a lot of people have mentioned.
