^_^ Yes.
For example, nurses have to at least have a good grasp in basic math. A nurse might received an order from a physician about a medicine that has to be given in a certain unit (grains) for a patient, but the medicine that is available comes in a different unit (milligrams/millimeter). In this case, the nurse has to know how to convert the order, which is in grains, and make it available in milligrams. If unsuccessful to do a simple task like this, the nurse might overdose or underdose the patient. When it's underdose, the patient will not received the therapeutic outcome(s) of the drug. When it's overdose, the patient might die or develop a severe adverse reactions, which, in this case, the nurse is liable.

Furthermore, giving an IV (intravenous) solution for a patient is not a mere task. A medical personnel has to know how much time the IV has to be given to the patient and how fast (rate) is the solution given per minute, hour, and gtt (drops).
