What's wrong with Redwall? It's a great series with elements that can appeal to all ages.
Just because it's about animals doesn't mean it's for little kids, look at Richard Adam's Watership Down and all its underlying themes of governments and such, or Animal Farm

Tell Me What You See by Zoran Drvenkar

It was super embarrasing, even though none of friends know about it, but if they did know that I read it..

For starters it had sexual content in it...then there were lesbian scenes... Nothing wrong with lesbians of course but I would prefer not reading about it.

"The Wonders of Gay Sex"
It was actually in the Health part of the public library.
And some old guy looking at a book on vitamins gave me the "wtfhobo" look. O.o

What?! Redwall was awesome! I devoured those books when I was younger.

I'd have to say the most embarrassing book I've ever read was Rite of Passage, in that I was actually embarrassed for the author. It was a self-published book, which should have sent up red flags before I even started reading it. The man is clearly not a writer - he went so far as to mention that he has, on his desk, a three-inch stack of rejection letters. There was a reason he's received those. His writing is horrid (I quoted a few passages in my livejournal and people adamantly refused to believe me they actually came from a real book) and the plot was insanely confusing. It starts out interesting: it deals with ancient Egyptian scrolls and gods (something I'm intensely fond of), but then veers sharply off course; during the climax I think the gods came to life and were going to kill all the characters if they pronounced the gods' names wrong..? I'm not really sure. He's a terrible writer and couldn't explain things clearly.

I read a book about poo and what all the poo from different animals was shaped and felt like. I think that breaks records in awkward.

And it wasn't even a guide for trackers.

Probably "Percy Jackson and the Olympians "series, I like the books, but unfortunately my Public library keeps it in the kids section, which is really embarrassing to go into, especially if the book is in the back and you have to ask a librarian to get it for you
