I don't ever feel guilty. I'll download a series to see if I like it (less so, now that I've discovered CR). If I like it enough, I buy it. As Azrael says, the price of boxsets has gone down drastically, so I can usually afford to buy something I really enjoy. Anime is certainly a far easier habit to support than it was a decade ago. Like many, I spent a fair share of money on anime back in the day (as my extensive collection of Animeigo tapes and laserdiscs can attest.), so it's really refreshing to me to be able to actually buy it in a STORE. Mostly, the only stuff I download is craploads of fansubs of stuff I just can't get anywhere else. If some American company wanted to license Damekko Doubutsu, I would be completely willing to pay for it. I have every episode of Hajime no Ippo in fansub, but I'm all over buying the DVDs now, as they are released here in the US. Here's hoping for a boxset!

Nope.

Most stuff I uploaded were from DVDs I bought and those I downloaded were from guys who did the same. It's like swapping DVDs but online. Everyone else can benefit from this. If I get a legal slap on wrist for it I'll take it as I knew it was illegal all along. If I don't want to get in trouble I won't do it. Simple as that.

catex u gotta help me out with that stuff.... i tried using pr0gz like dvd ripper and it didnt make any sense at all.

biggest problem was trying to understand why they seperated the audio and video to 2 different files....

after that I gave up dvd ripping.

^ Sounds like you were referring to Audio TS and Video TS?

Rather than to explain what these are and how it works, the easiest DVD ripping program to use is CloneDVD 4, e.g. it can create a hardsubbed avi file from a DVD.

If you're still not sure how to use it, send me a PM.

cloneDVD hm? sound easy enough.... yeah when I would rip it'd make VTS files...
iwas like... wtf is a VTS file.

i tried to learn off dvdrhelp.com, but no real luck.

I'll try it out, i'll give u a holler if something comes up.
