I find the Resident Evil games pretty scary too. And backgrounds sounds and music just adds to the tension.

Yes, most early RE games are very scary. Sadly you can't ever see what the hell is happening. (most of the time.)

Not to mention another reason it is scary is because it is so hard to actually MOVE from your enemies.

But the RE games are good. Don't get me wrong, they have good stories, but I really need to try the fourth....

The fourth RE is completely different than all of the other ones cuz it's over the shoulder 3rd person, which lets you actually aim at people. The zombies are replaced with "plaga" infected people...at least you can shoot their heads off easier Anyways I think that Silent Hill and Silent Hill 2 were pretty scary...I have Silent Hill 4, but it didn't seem as scary as the other ones....

yeah, RE4 changes all that

I hear the fatal frame games are creepy, but I havnt played enough really know

Played Fatal Frame 2 4 times round. It's more of an ambience-creepy, and not heart-pounding, mind-numbing scare you silly game. The creepiness sinks in when you realise that there's something you have to collect but it's a long way ahead, and random ghosts appear that you don't see but your camera obscura picks it up, so your handheld vibrates like a heart beat. It's best really to play alone rather with a pack of friends, then it'll be really scary, like Tale of Two Sisters scary.

Its life-like quality in being able to manipulate the direction of the flashlight while walking gives it added bonus to the game play. In one of the largest house - the Kurosawa House, your flashlight will be unable to remain switched on, therefore it's journey alone. And it contains one of the scariest ghosts - the twins. One is a ghost of a girl, the other a doll. One part to beat the doll master is horrid, because it uses 2 little dolls to attack you, but your cam makes almost no damage, and that D.M hardly has fatal frames, so I wasted about 60 shots of film 7 in Nightmare mode - which is lame, cos it's the lousiest, but unlimited. Not to mention one touch of the doll takes 3/4 of your life away.

There's another part where you have to collect a token from a hidden room, in front of the doll. And the room is only a dining table size big, pitch black. Two of them come at you without notice. You hit the doll, the real ghost comes flying, you hit the real ghost to stop the doll attacking, but you can't tell which is which. One touch from them kills. Great.

Fatal Frame 2. End topic.

Agreed. I watch my friends play it a lot (Gaming wussy here).
the closest I've gotten to playing a scary game was SHill 3, which is crap but EVERY NOISE makes me want to turn the game off. Had it for a year, play a total of 1 1/2 hours of it and most of it was waiting around in a safe place until I got the courage to run out of the door screaming "DON'T KILL ME DON'T KILL ME!!!!"

So I'll leave now...

There was a game that me and my friend almost jumped out of our seats. Sadly I don't remeber the name. All I know is that You start of with nothing and then you get a wrench and some wierd thing pops out. Another one is residend evil 4. And trying to beat a time cheat for perfect dark on perfect in the dark in the deep sea level with thoses wierd teleporting doors.

i would have to say my very first game..... don't laugh, i think i'm the only person who got scared by it.... and i was like 18 at that time....
Clock tower 3

i played it again, not too long ago and it wasn't that bad, but i still remember the first time, i couldn't stop shaking!!!

Pao

yeah...I remember when the Sledgehammer came out from the ceiling suddenly,I really gave a loud scream! also the other guys:corroder-chopper-scissor man and scissor woman, they are not scary in shape but they like to come out from nowhere and scare you,it's like you're being watched all the time.....Brrrrrrr

PS:if you liked clock tower 3,then you should play Haunting Ground,it's pretty much the same but with a dog helping you, also Rule of Rose which I finished recently......Try it out.

I've finished Haunting Ground, love the game but I don't really find it that scary.. I want my own Hewie. I'm playing Rule of Rose right now. Some parts are creepy but the game moves forward too slowly and sometimes it gets a bit boring so I don't know if I'll ever get to finish. I think the Fatale Frame series are the scariest games I've played so far

btw Clock Tower for the PSX left me traumatized as a child. My cousin used to play it on our ps when I was about 12 years old and I'm still afraid of Scissorman til now ahehe

I'd say F.E.A.R. and Doom 3. Doom 3 keeps you in constant fear throughout the game, when the lights go off, switch to Flashlight, look forwards, nothing, turn 180°, monsters coming towards you.

In F.E.A.R., you'll keep on spotting ghosts and the little girl throughout the game. Dream sequences are a little frightening, perhaps.
