Gundam consist of many series with many idea, design and storylines. Many elements are cliche and some elements are best left alone, but what would you like to see in a new gundam series conceptually that is regarding the story line charcter development and length of episode which effects the quality

Man, had nobody ever tried reading this nice little thread? Seriously. Anyway here goes mine:

Storyline- I suppose the story would be good if told in at least three perspectives(two or more opposing parties andaffected civilians) to give clearer view on whatever is going on in the series. Also, the characters' purposes, their political views, philosophies, reasons of fighting, why they are what they are, and so on and so forth, can be explained well with this. I can't say anything about the plot: I'd always stick with the war concept.

Character development- Development must be present within all the important characters, not only the pilots and the villains. Development within the antagonists must not necessarily be moral/mental degradation and grudge build-up alone, but also positive ones like the realizations of ending the conflict(uh oh we've got another cliche) and stuff like that. Give him a love life or something. To be fair, negative development is also encouraged for protagonists, although not to a certain point that he becomes the bad guy.

Episode length- As long and as compact as possible. The usual 24 something-minute run is already enough I guess. If you are talking about the number of episodes, then it should be as many enough as to cover the important events in the story as well as those aiding in character/plot development and the like. My suggestion would be around 60 episodes so we could put a little more details in the story to make it a little more complex(not that complicated though).

Additional concepts- (1)This one's fairly common: no more masked villain! The very image of Char Aznable has been overused and abused long enough. (2)Interplanetary conflict. Let's try a colonized Mars vs. Earth sort of war. (3)Anti-hero protagonist. Not that I love anti-heroes but, hey, why not give it a try?

That's it. Just correct me if I presented unoriginal thoughts here.^^

I like most of your ideas, especially the Earth vs. Mars kinda thing. Personally though, I found the stories of Turn A Gundam and Gundam 00 to be quit invigorating.

I've had enough of Gundam. I am trying to think like the man himself, Yoshiyuki Tomino.

Better to make your own universe with a whole new set of mecha than another Gundam AU.

well my friend u have really thought up quit a good thread topic... i'll try to attempt to create a gundam storyline...

Storyplot:
In all the series i have seen, the protaganist always has or ends up with a gundam in the first 1-2 episodes. Why dont this time let the protaganist start off with a regular mobile suit instead of a gundam for first 15ish episodes. The Gundams would be owned by the forces that's aganist the protagnist and his comrades. The Gundams would also symbolize EVIL and POWER until the main characters manages to steal/find one.

character development/personality:
the most IMPORTANT thing that the protaganist shouldn't be a character that has a extremely peace-loving attitude. the protagnist should should be a type of a guy that believes the "kill or be killed" kind of thing. the development part would be at first have the protagnist accept reality for what it is, and all he's doing is just to live through the choatic time. sumwhere around the first few episdoes stuff happens, and he sumwhats gets motivated to change sumthing about the relationship of Earth and space.

now for the antagnist, i would like her... yes i said HER to be STRONG person (sick of seeing too many GOOD male pilots), and like to make her a a person who just follows orders (i would say sum what like Heero's personaltiy but more to the extreme). at first the antagnist would just be sum low ranking soldier, but after what she did in a mission she was asigned through, she got promoted to become a Captain of a special ACE squad. her obivious role would always be clashing with the protaganist's way through the story. BUT the funny thing would be that the antagnist and protagnist would slowly develop a love relationship together.

Episodes:
personally i find that length the gundam franchides been going with is fine the way it is, which is in the range of 48-53 episodes. therefore, i see no point in changing it.

that is all i think...

Uhh..You pretty much just explained Yuu Kojima in Gundam 0079 Side Story: The Blue Destiny, except for the plot and Yuu's team were stuck with crappy cannon-fodder units while he got the uber-h4x Newtype MS. XD

Well, that's a manga/novel anyway. At any rate, I've seen that done before...ALOT.

(2)Interplanetary conflict. Let's try a colonized Mars vs. Earth sort of war.

That actually happened in Gundam F90, and again in Crossbone Gundam. Well, in Crossbone it was the colonies from Jupiter that they were fighting and in F90 it was a bunch of old-ass Zeon vets who took refuge
on Mars.

ANYWAY!! Gundam wasn't meant to be original with everything, I think that Tomino just meant to do his U.C. storyline and fill in the blanks later. Which explains all of the different side storys. Hell, the newest novel is 3 years after CCA and explains ALOT of questions people have been asking after ZZ, Like what happened to Minerva. Buuuut, a bunch of other people decided to make all of these AU-Gundams. Now, here we are today.

Also, I'd love to see Hathaway's Flash, Beltorchika's Children, and Unicorn animated...Well, that would most likely not happen, since 90% of Gundam fans are either Wing or SEED-fans and don't give a shit about the U.C. >_>

hmm.. is there a gundam series where "gundams" are the enemy and the protagonist are like using their heads to defeat them.. something like that... but then again.. it wouldn't be a gundam series if the gundams are the enemy right? but hey why not give it a try right?

Story Line
AD 2285
Earth has colonized several planets in the near solar systems and is starting to expand and explore the universe. they have met only one alien race but they are friendly. An unknown race of beings attack Earths military and defences. Earths defenses and technology barely win out only due to there numbers. Amazingly damage to any cities and civilian populated areas are mostly untouched. A young pilot that has been fighting since the start of the war is finally reckognised by his superior officers after single handedly taking on 8 enemy units (effectively saving the daughter of Earths leader) which is rarely seen on the battlefield. He is then assigned a gundam which is part of a new line of prototype mobile suits which earth has been developing from the start of the war to put the balance of power in their favour. The main characters two best friends are also given a gundam each after being recommended by him. These Gundams and 2 new mother ships (earths new flag ships) lead attacks on the front lines in defending colonized planets. The enemy is forced back further into the frontier and the persuit continues. Then the enemy devolops new units which are much more effective in battle.

Evantually one battle the enemy manages to capture a gundam and study it's technology and is able to adapt it into a new line of mobile suits they are making. The enemy then send out these new mobiles suits and manages to destroy 3 of the 8 gundams and one of the two flagships are destroyed. The main character and his two friends survive. Later, the main character loses a battle (his gundam gets destroyed in a surprise attack but managers to survive) and the ship retreats for the time being as they are building a new gundam according to his own specifications. While they rest on a nearby colony they were protecting, the remaining flagship recieves some new upgrades. The main character's friends have there gundams upgraded. They then move back onto the battle field.

Sometime during the series they learn that the enemy is in fact not alien but humans just like themselves and have turned against earth due to learning the truth behind earths leaders.

Character
the main character(guy) should be kind and caring. he is the best pilot from earth and is capable of taking on many enemies at once with even a standard mobile suit.
his friend (guy) should be funny and a good pilot himself almost rivaling the main characters skills but always depends on the main character to lead on the battle field.
the other friend (girl). she is a very good pilot and cares much forher friends but can be playfull at times. she has the ability tho to be extremely kind and even with her immature nature she is respected by her comrades.
Daughter of the leader of earth. very nice. main character and her fall in love. resourcefull.

Episode Length
25minutes is fine
there should be at least 2 seasons of this having 50 episode each at least and even 70 might be better
