More then half of the people who come across this will have no idea who Satoshi Kon is so:

Satoshi Kon (今敏, Kon Satoshi?, born October 12, 1963 in Kushiro, Hokkaidō, Japan) is the highly-regarded director of the anime films Perfect Blue (1997), Millennium Actress (2001), Tokyo Godfathers (2003), and Paprika (2006), as well as the television series Paranoia Agent (2004). All of his works as a director have been made by Studio Madhouse, where he is a staff director along with Rintaro and Yoshiaki Kawajiri. His films are characterized by psychological complexity, realistic character and background designs, and the blurring of dream and reality.

Ek! I LOVE his movies!! Paranoia Agent was great too! He sure has a thing for strange, mature movies!! I've enjoyed every one of his films, Paprika was a true masterpiece!! All of the movies have this twisted thing to it!! (Well, Tokyo Godfathers not as much as the others) If you love freaky movies, I suggest you watch ALL of Satoshi Kon's films and Paranoia Agent. ^-^

His movies are also a great example to defend the fact that anime isn't always childish cartoons, although they can be.

Just anything related to him. ._. Heres a few helpful questions you could answer:

Have you ever heard of him?
Watched any of his movies?
Favorite movie/series he directed?

Yeah, he's one i always keep my eye on. I got pretty excited when i saw the trailer for Paprika at a film festival i went to a year ago and saw his name.

I normally like the "slice of life" type of anime, but he's little twists he adds always strike a cord of real and surrealism.

As for picking a favorite? I can't say for sure; it's my belief that each of the movies and the tv show can't be measured between them. It's like trying to pick your favorite red apple. Each one will have a slightly different flavor, but in the end they're all red apples.

For me, Satoshi Kon is up there with Hayao Miyazaki - although they are *completely* different - in the great anime movie directors category. His movies are beautifully animated, and always leave an impression (Millennium Actress stuck with me for months). Paprika is my favorite.

I'm such a huge fan of him. I've watched all of his stuff and I own "Millennium Actress" and "Perfect Blue". When I heard about "Paprika", it was from iTunes, so you have no idea how happy I was to discover and then immediately watch the movie. I love his visual style as well. Does anyone know who exactly is the character designer and lead animator at Madhouse on all his work? Personally, I feel "Millennium Actress" is the most beautiful and moving, while "Paranoia Agent" is the most mind tripping. Though there is also a good argument there for "Paprika" as strangest. "Tokyo Godfathers" is the most straightforward and true to life, just winning over "Millennium Actress" as the most warmhearted. "Perfect Blue", of course, is the most disturbing, but not necessarily the most psychological.

Well, they have the parallel of turning regular life on its head. Like, Miyazaki tends to be on the more friendly side, while Kon is more dark.
