When It was made.

I don't know if it's just me, but I can't STAND super old Mangas.
I'm really repolsed by those HUGEEE eyes, like that take up half the face. (Haruhi from OHSHC is acceptable, but that's about as big as they can get!)
So I guess the eyes, and the year.

1st thing i look for is art. it's got to be good, and i'm typically relaxed but i can be critical. next is the plot: funny, lame weird, done before...it's got to be interesting. very critical here. price generally isn't a factor.

Art style is what I look for first. I've grown out of the really cute, huge eyes so anything cutsie I don't read. Genre matters to me as well. I don't read shoujo or anything of that sort. I'm more into the mature series like Gantz and Berserk. I don't check for plot at all. If I get a good first impression, I usually read the manga all the way through. Old or new series don't matter. I've read many good manga that were created before I was born.

i'd pick a manga with a gud storyline and nice art.....the genre doesnt matter, coz all kinda mangas are nice

The storyline =/ I don't want to read another typical shoujou which has the typical plastic main character which has a crush on a typical popular guy which suddenly (typically) takes an interest on her

Usually the style of the drawings (like, I love the style that Shugo Chara is drawn in, but I hate the style of One Piece).
Then, I look up the storyline. If the storyline seems good, I try reading it, haha.

I first decide if the cover has a cool drawing style like Peach pit (Shugo Chara) and then I read what it's about and if it has romance in it I mean I love romance mangas not the fighting type (and if it has any potential yaoi couples ^_^ (SebastianxCiel) (SasuNaru)

The majority of the manga I'm reading I started watching as animes. I usually choose to read a manga if the storyline sounds engaging. I'll first read a bit of it and if I like the way the plot progresses and the characters I'll continue to read it. Usually I look for a healthy mixture of comedy and plot. I like the characters to have an interesting past but I don't like characters that are ruled by them (IE SASUKE). Generally if a series I started does not impress me with the characters AND the story line I will not continue to read it. I haven't been in the mood for romantic mangas lately so I generally ignore those types. Art is important to me but I'd much rather have an intriguing storyline than great graphics. I also try to look into the pace of the storyline. Personally I prefer the long but medium paced mangas.
