Honestly? I'm an artist myself, so when I see a cover art that has impressive detail, aka time, put into it, I am drawn to the Manga to check it out, in hopes that just as much time was put into the story. I don't usually go for Manga that have "sponge bob" quality drawings on the cover because I doubt how much thought was actually put into the story. A bit vain, but the theory works for the most part.

At first it was sheer intrigue,
then it was the story line, the graphics and the characters personalities!
I love them if they make me laugh!

The art and summary of course but the characters have to be likable.

The artwork :3

I even read Shoujos if I like the art. Like Dengeki Daisy has epic drawings, I wish I could draw like that Dx

Depends on my mood whether I want to read something funny, light, dark, etc. I don't care for "deep story/plots", but good characters are all I need.

I know this is so shallow, but if the leading guy is hot and the main girl is nicely drawn...i'll read it, but if the plot sucks, and it's the same old cliche plot, then i'm done with it.

At first, the side panel, because that's the only thing I can see, then the title, and if I like it,I look at the cover and read the plot summary.Yep,that's pretty much it.

There are only two things that i look before reading a manga.
1. description
Psyren:
Summary
Yoshina Ageha is a high school student who offers to help people with their problems for 10,000 yen. He'll take care of your stalkers, find your lost animal, whatever you want. One day when he's heading home, a nearby pay phone rings, and he picks it up. The only thing he hears however is his own voice echoing. After finding a mysterious card with the word 'Psyren' printed on it, his life suddenly changes as he is drawn into a crazy new world.
2. cover (to see the character drawing)

First I have to find it so it's normally either recommended for a manga I'm already reading, or I find it via a search of genres. Although something I've done recently is just pick a letter and click on every manga avaliable on that site that starts with that letter. Normally I find at least one that I put on my to-read-list .

If it has my prefered genres, or I like the cover, I'll then look at the story and if it seems interesting I'll go to the next stage...

Before I start reading I look at the art for the first chapter and the latest chapter (because of art evolution) to see if I like it. If something doesn't have an art style that I like, I won't be able to read it. Somtimes the covers can be deceptive as well, I liked the arstyle of Kamisama Hajimemashita but it looked completely different on the cover. I started reading it via random clicking on a manga site so it the cover didnt influence me, it's a good thing too because it's become one of my favourites .

Then I read the first five chapters of a weekly manga and the first two for a monthly. This is just an estimate because sometimes I will realise I don't like it within a chapter (Barajou no Kiss) and sometimes it takes longer (Rave - I read 27 chapters before I dropped it).

...And that is what attracts me to read a manga
