Firstly let me apologize for being 3 days late on this, I was busy and had no time to check my usual news sites.

On Tuesday March 4 2008 Gary Gygax died at the age of 69 in Lake Geneva Wisconsin.
He was the son of a swiss immigrant and loved games and LARPing as a child. He experimented with the generation of random numbers in his original miniature war games. He also co-founded The international federation of Wargamers (IFW) in 1966. Though what we will all remember him for is his creation with Dave Arneson. Dungeons and Dragons. Considered the father of all RPGs DnD served as a foundation for many of the great RPGs we play today. A simple game involving pens ,paper, and an assortment of dice, built up from scratch elements that can be seen in almost every RPG to date. Blizzard entertainment also dedicated patch 2.40 of WoW in his honor. Gary continued gaming up until his death even after being diagnosed with an inoperable abdominal aortic aneurysm. We Salute the man who's name appears under the Dungeons and Dragons entry of the Oxford English dictionary.

We will miss you Gary.

I heard DnD was fun, too bad I never had time or the patience to put up with know-it-all geeks to play it... but if he started the movement, then my respect...
