Eiichiro Oda-He knows how to tell a good story and his drawing style, though simplistic, is also stylized, which is suited for a manga like One Piece. I'll stick with his epic story even if it takes another decade or so to see its conclusion.

Yuu Watase for sure! She has great storylines! I was going to say Shinjo Mayu too, but most of her female leads piss me off, so that knocked down a few points for Shinjo Mayu. Her storylines are interesting, and very general but her characters lack depth.

Umino Chika - My favourite mangaka, hands down. She has the illustration skills, and has the rare gift of being able to create one of the most believable characters ever made, as well as coming up with the perfect balance of comedy and drama, without ever running out of writing materials. She can really make angst seem genuine when the time calls for it. She is also one of those mangaka who actually researches on what she is writing about. Her major works are Honey & Clover and Sangatsu no Lion.

Mohiro Kitoh - Someone who I'd like to call the God of Tragedy, 90% of his works are associated with tragic plot, realistic characters, sadistic choices and well developed story. A highly-recommended mangaka, and you may need an anti-depressant some time after reading his works. His major works are Bokurano and Narutaru.

Hikaru Nakamura - Another excellent mangaka, who focuses on Seinen comedy. The number of characters can change greatly, but her ability to think up of a hilarious scene never dies out. Her major works are Arakawa Under the Bridge and Saint Young Men.

Junji Ito - With a unique art design in the fact that most of his works are drawn realistically, with no all-bishie cast, he has a peculiar, yet effective sense of horror-writing, and his drawing style greatly enhances the suspense and fear of the characters throughout the plot. His major works are Tomie and Uzumaki.

NisiOisin - Technically not a mangaka, but his light novels are good enough to warrant a mention. Excellent use of puns, word play, great characters, comedy, etc. His major works are Kizumonogatari, Bakemonogatari, Nisemonogatari (one series) and Katanagatari (completely different series).

1) Motomi Kyousuke! The words, the art and the humour all reached me. Lets just say i get really involved when reading her mangas. (Best: Dengeki Daisy)

2) Sakurakoji Kanoko! Most of her manga are supernatural-romance and I like how she blends both genre together. (Best: Black Bird)

3) Tsukuba Sakura! Mostly because of her artwork, and how her characters are usually cute and loveable. (Best: Yoroshiku Master)

4) Akira Shouko! Her work are usually really deep. (Best: Saruyama!)

5) Yuki Nakaji! Her cute drawings, lovable characters, always showing friendship bonds in her manga, lighthearted and very very very sweet rom-com. (Best: Junai Labyrinth)

6) Suzuki Julietta. (Best: Kamisama Hajimemashita!)

7) Enjouji Maki & Yoshino Aki! They're the two best josei mangaka, and i love their work so far. Artwise and storywise. (Best: Hapi Mari & Kimi Wa KiraKira)
