Shirow Masamune, the author of Ghost in the Shell and Appleseed. I love his work for many reasons. First, the art style is fantastic. It's different and bold. The art always fits the stories that is being portrayed by it and second, his stories are always badass action related. Ghost in the Shell is easily one of my favorite series of all time and I also really enjoyed the Appleseed series.

Nakamura Yoshiki, the author of Skip Beat. I'll admit that I haven't read her other stories. But she is one of my favorites because regardless of having a frustrating plot (at times), I'm insanely addicted to the series Skip Beat. Any author that has the power to make me want to bang my head against a wall, while simultaneously making me fangirl scream, deserves my respect.

Shuichi Shigeno, the author of Initial D. Initial D is my FAVORITE series (manga or anime) of all time. One of the main reasons that I love the series is the science presented in it. I know it sounds nerdy, but all of the information given in the series in relation to racing is absolutely correct. He literally brings the world of racing to life with his work in Initial D and I will always love him for it.

Kaori Yuki is definitely my favorite. Her art is absolutely beautiful, and so unique. All of her stories are dark fantasies, and she uses characters in the lowest of situations to struggle to find salvation in the broken worlds in which they live.

The works I've read of hers (and own!) include: Fairy Cube, Cain Saga & Godchild, Blood Hound XD (en francais), Le Parfum (en francais), Grand Guignol Orchestra, and Ludwig Revolution (en francais). I'm currently collecting volumes of Angel Sanctuary (which is out of print), and plan on reading it once I own all of it!

Other manga-ka I admire include Natsuki Takaya (Fruits Basket, Tsubasa: Those With Wings, Twinkle Stars), Yuu Watase (Alice 19th, Imadoki Nowadays, Absolute Boyfriend), and Matsuri Hino (Meru Puri, Vampire Knight, Wanted).

Wakaki Tamiki - The World God Only Knows - I really love his simplistic art. Just when you think that He wouldn't go there, he went there. He has surprised me more than a few times and become one of my addictions when it comes to manga.

Yoshikawa Miki - Yamada and the 7 witches, Yankee-kun to Megane-chan - Really like her art. It's similar to Mashima's but a little more subtle. Her stories are based off of highschool life, but she can make the most boring day of school seem like an adventure...She can even make prepping for college an exciting story. 'Yamada' has a really good story to it though, I can see her progressions from Yankee to Yamada; the art is smoother and more polished, the story is very solid, and the characters are as interesting as ever.

Hiro Mashima - Fairy Tail - Aside from drawing one of my favorite anime (I actually have not read the manga, but I've read bits and pieces of it), Hiro Mashima manages to create the amazing story that is Fairy Tail. First off, I really like his art. Second, he is very integrated with his fanbase and he loves what he does. In his spare time he draws characters specifically for fans and posts them on Twitter. He really is a mangaka that loves what he does. I also really like the character designs in Fairy Tail (more specifically the outfits).

(The Late) Nakano Junko - Hetakoi - this will forever remain the shoujo manga I marathonned. I have never been addicted to a shoujo manga such as Hetakoi and will always remember what Junko as given me.

Tachibana Roku - Renai Shimasen Ka? - This new artist has impressed me, and she has only created 11 chapters thus far! The art is spectacular (I love the simplistic yet detailed art). The characters are very realistic and likeable, and the story is really engaging. She creates an actual love rivalship instead of a "let's be frenemies' mentality. One of the best romances I've read, and it's still not over. I look forward to reading this mangaka's works in the future.

Hideaki Sorachi - for obvious reasons, nobody has a mindset like Sorachi.

Jun Mochizuki. I LOVE Pandora Hearts because of the suspense that she, Mochizuki-Sensei, creates, the plot twists, the comedy(Break and Gilbert), and plus my OTP is in it.

Natsuki Takaya!

Author of the touching and very popular Fruits Basket.
Her artwork is good and her stories are touching.
My favorite by her is Fruits Basket -- very touching, very funny, very reliable, very lovable, almost lifechanging and the title goes deeper than it sounds. :D

If you like Natsuki Takaya, you should check out "Twinkle Stars: The Song of the Stars". It's not available in English, but I know they have it in French and German (and Japanese). I am a huge Fruits Basket fan, and this manga has the same humor and heart that Furuba does
