you are right when on budget, when on digital the 5d canon will be a good start for landscape but it would be a leap to use a medium frame and scan it with a good quality scanner and you will get over with pixel. also check genuine fractals software to increase pixel.

At work I use Nikon D50 and for private, I use Canon EOS Mark 2. It really depends on what you prefer. If you are more of a portrait person, go for Nikon. Landscape, go for Canon. Accessories wise, I only have a Sigma 28-300mm lens and a Speedlite 430EX flash. Lenses are more important actually. Think of it like this: the camera's the gun and the lenses are the bullets.

nikon is a lense company so it is better to get a nikon body and preferably with nikon lense

I would if I didn't have so many things to pay for. D: For now, I'm just working with what I have.

Thanks, I'll keep that in mind. Any recommendations for good scanners?

scanners for 135 film will cost around $ 200 and those with mounts for medium frame will cost more . check the epson although you are not limited to that brand. try to scan a negative film with color slide scan mode and invert it in photoshop rather than scan the negative film with negative scan mode (try the experiment).

Out of those 2 choices, I choose Canon. I've had many products by them and they've been great. My camera is a Canon. I really don't know much about Nikon. I just really like Canon products
