Should Selling of Kidneys Be Allowed?
Posted 3/8/08
If you're really desperate, and don't mind missing a kidney and you know you're not going to regret it then yes, if you want. Personally, I wouldn't.

Should Selling of Kidneys Be Allowed?

John Schieszer February 26 2008

Economic analysis supports the idea, but critics say the practice would exploit low-income people

THE ABILITY to purchase organs from live donors could largely eliminate transplant waiting times and only modestly increase total transplantation costs, according to a newly published economic analysis.

the price is $15,200 per kidney

If this is encouraged, selling of kidneys will be commercialised...end up being a commodity just like any other products. I think education plays an important role here....to educate ppl about organ donation when they die but not an easy task as religious beliefs may not encourage this.

Hell yeah, it's worth it.
You got two kidneys and you only need one.
Plus, there are people who would die if they don't get a replacement, so you're doing some good.
But I'm not supporting it for noble purposes like that.
There's just a lot of fast cash involved.

I would sell mine if I really needed the money. There's nothing wrong with it but there should be rules/laws as to how it should be done. Don't want some sicko going out there just kidnapping people and selling the kidneys.

How about actually going to the bathroom and not holding it so you won't get kidney stones and infection?

i think it should be allowed.. at least you are able to help others but after that you must take care of yourself because you only have one kidney already..extra care... but it doesn't mean that people should be at ease because others are selling their kidneys..

$15000 for a kidney that can save a life is way too low.

Even if the price was upped, I don't think it should be allowed. It would help a lot of people, but allowing this sort of thing is just asking for illegal organ harvesting.
