Well I was browsing through Digg and came across this article about three kids (7,8, and 9) that stripped a six year old then pushed him into a lake. The six year old couldn't swim and drowned o_o

Apparently (from the article and comments I read pertaining to it) all they can do is hand the kids over to their parents since their under the age of 12?!

That's life here in Manitoba.

Last month we caught one of three kids breaking into our car and held him for police. There's a sense of inevitability here: He confirmed to police that he was going up and down the back lane breaking into cars, that he had been caught doing it before, and that the large flat screwdriver he was carrying was for busting locks. Being too young to charge, they turned him over to his parents. The next day the kid was overheard bragging about getting a ride in a police car. And that night our car was broken into again, with the lock damaged by large screwdriver.

It's illegal to name or identify a minor who committed a crime, except to police. We've been warned that we could get in a lot of trouble if we try to warn others about which kids are doing the break-ins and vandalism.

Our police are excellent. They're just not allowed to do anything except hand the kids back to the parents.

Oh. He pushed him inside. I thought he held his head down in the water. Only 6 years old? Well, at least they got him young.

I would have killed my kid for doing some shit like that. Literally kill them to send them to the after life to apologize to that kid.

Idk much about the law around here... but it is very "wimpy" as one might say. The punishments aren't as bad and people can get out with parole very early. I do think it's wrong to sentence one to death or jail for extended amounts of time... One little mistake(not mistake as in accident, but something "bad" in ones life)... taking away your entire life. I'm definitely not flowing with that. It would have to be on a grand scale.

Urgh I hate it when stuff like this happens here in England its not quite as bad as that but we have the asbo system which is meant to be a punishment but at the end of the day it doesn't mean toss as they just aren't enforced enough after being handed out!

Kids in the UK are proud they have an ASBO. I know for a fact they compete with friends to see who will be the 1st to get one

When kids do that they want to be thought a lesson they wont forget, like a few nights in a hardcore prison.
