Well kind of. I don't dismiss a manga because I think the art work is bad it's just I can tell from the art work what type of story it is. If its a genre that I don't like then I usually don't even consider it, but if the art work is really interesting then I will read the first volume.

yes of course

i don't typically judge by drawings because plot/characters are much more important to me, but if it's a smutty picture or some genre I don't like I may just pass over it

The aesthetics will always be a component in the overall experience of reading a manga, so it's inevitable that you can get a bit turned off with mangas that are not really visually pleasing.

I do judge a manga by its cover quite a lot though some of my favorite ones have covers that would have stopped me reading them had i not read the description.

I bought a manga the other day called Tokyo Tribes. I judged it to be very interesting because its basically about a group of black friends moving around in Tokyo.

I have to say, that is probably what I am doing with Toriko at the moment, there is a lot of hype around that anime/manga but I just cant get over the theme of hunting for food and the main character does not really feel right either. I hope I am proved wrong though if I eventually get around to watch it.

I admit the food thing was also a turnoff for me. I only watched Toriko because of the One Piece crossover and thought it might be the next big thing. It's not that I don't like it since I still watch it, but if I had to recommend a shounen anime to someone, I'd recommend 15-20 other titles before Toriko. I heard the manga is way better though.

Recently, I was reluctant to try out a new popular manga called Shokugeki no Soma because it was about cooking. I tried it after some guys recommended it and now it's one of my favorite manga. It's awesome.

I haven't checked Major, Ace of Diamond (Baseball), Haikyu! (Volley-Ball) and Cross Manage (Cross) yet because I don't like the represented sports. Even though Prince of Tennis taught me that I shouldn't do that.

Who hasn't?
I nearly never watched/read my favorite series because of the funky art style, but now I'm happy I did because it's fantastic.

Yup, and it seems that when I do and I buy it, it's always a good pick (:

Every time I see a manga only featuring one of the female leads, I know what I would be getting into.

Not in a negative way but if it has an interesting cover I'm more likely to gravitate towards it.
