METRIC i really dislike the British imperial measurements, if the us wants to use them fine however all scientific calculations should be done in metric for the sake of simplicity 2. SIGNIFICANT FIGURES measured quantities should be expressed to the correct degree of accuracy, for example the speed of light is 3.00x10^8 m/s where m is METERS. (there I'm done now thanks for posting this) edit: I've read it, wait a minute thats it, nothing else i was hoping for a few details! thank you i hate not using the metric scale quantum tunneling. beam me up, scotty! from what little i understand of quantum tunneling i dont think it works on the macroscopic level |

it wasnt a direct reference. im not quite sure how the star trek teleporters worked. it was just the first thing to come to mind.
either or, anything fancy will happen after our generation. at least that's what i believe. and also, they're little discovery may have just been a fluke. i guess we'll see. |

i think somebody wrote a book on the science of star trek
i think it was called The Science of Star Trek never would have guessed |

So if they're saying that we would arrive to our destination before we actually left, does that mean that one part of us will be at Point A and the other part would be at Point B? Do they mean completely arriving before completely leaving? And if that were to happen, I wonder if you would be able to pass through solid objects like little portals from A to B...
Then again, how the hell would you be able to control yourself while going at the speed of light? You'd ram a planet before you would even get there! |

Man when you get down to that small of a size everything starts playing silly buggers with you, i remember a flaws in physics debate on CR and theres all sorts of weird things going on at the sub atomic level. and by the way i pretty sure that the atomic theory isn't even 100% proved it's a pretty strong theory but not completely proved yet.

"For instance, an astronaut moving faster than it would theoretically arrive at a destination before leaving."
Gaaaahhh, that phrase is gunna tear my brain apart. |

If it leads to us creating anti-grav generators, then i'll be impressed

But even though I am semi-religious (don't ask me what that means) I tend to stay away from questions like that, makes my life so much easier. |

Well, even though I wouldn't understand it, I'd like to see their scientific publication before I'd believe it. I've seen about four or five "Speed of light broken!" stories
