i call BS on this. why well until i see it published in a reputable scientific journal i won't believe anything published on a newspaper as a fact and you all should be the same. it seems to me that you guys are too easily swayed one way or the other by the media.

take a step back and see everything you can before you make a judgement

True.

Haha, reminds me of all the commotion over "Cold Fusion" in the 90's.

Most people in the scientific field doubted it at the time. It's been proven some time ago that neutrinos only travel at the speed of light. There's an interesting theory that if a traveller travels at near speed of light away from the Earth, and comes back say, 20 years later (by the traveller's clock), some hundreds years would have passed on Earth. I prefer that one.

It's so fascinating that time is relativistic rather than absolute. Almost all of us think of time as "defined" and set. We know our seconds, minutes, hours, days...etc. and we expect reality to go at a set tempo.

I remember how much my mind was blown when my college Physics professor was trying to explain to us how it was conjectured that time, space, and speed were connected.

Yaaay, they broke the speed of light(!) Now you can sort out the problems that really need to be sorted like poverty in poor countries.
