Well, if you can't get into those schools....the college here in San Francisco, CA has it. Has language, advanced writing, ....in depth discussion of Japanese news articles...etc. Also, the community college here has it too if you want to save money.

alot of colleges offer it, just check around with the places near you. or do a google search for some, not too hard to find. not sure how easy finding an exchange would be though

Colleged and Universities have Japanese courses however most first year students drop the course within a week because it's not as easy as it sounds. You literally have to write large scaled reports and essays (Generally more than 6 pages) all in Japanese, be it Katakana, Kanji etc. However, with enough effort and determination, Japanese will be just another language for you.

For example, my friend when he first started the course thought he'd die in the course. Now he's in his 3rd year and he can watch RAW anime episodes (meaning no english subtitles) and understand it perfectly fine as well as write reports and essays all in Japanese effortlessly. If you're really considering about taking the course, you better have the determination and effort for it because it definitely isn't easy in the first year.
