Well, my understanding of what the term 'Bride Burning' is, that young women are being burned to death (their deaths usually disguised as 'kitchen accidents') due to the inefficient dowry (Property/ money) that the husband in the marriage gets from the brides family (They get money since women are considered to be a burden to a family). Since divorce is out of the question (Religious purposes), they choose to burn/ kill their new brides.

Even if its for religion, it is going way too far...

A few articles if you're interested and want to learn more (Sorry my description is brief, I don't really have a way with words) Also go to wikipedia:

Yeah, its a rather shadowy topic, but what are your thoughts?

Wow, that's kinda horrific. People are so much into money and materialism, that they would even burn their bride.....It's somehow not that decent of an act, and disgusting. I thought that you marry someone also out of love, but that doesn't seem to count in the third world countries. Reproduction and money, that's all that counts. It's sad and so....fucked up. Women are in this kind of societies looked at like some piece of dirt. I really do dislike this patriarchistic way of life in certain countries. Traditions of this kind should be banned and severely punished. :D

I suppose no religion is really supporting that, but the cultural traditions of certain ethinicities, such as in India, Pakistan....

It's one of those things that makes me aggravated with modern feminism. Too many women obsess over a $0.25 difference in the average pay of men and women, but they rarely talk about this stuff.

Yeah...-_- bride burning is a horrific thing. Sadly, it is prevalent in my culture (the Indian half), but as the world modernizes, the bide burnings are decreasing.

No, but it's still considered a women's issue and it sickens me that the feminazis bitch over a quarter before the fact that this goes on half way around the world. Besides, since when was the betterment of a woman's position limited to one country. I know it's not my country, but that doesn't stop it from being a concern.

It's not just for money that causes bride-burning. There are women who get burnt alive after the death of their husband as they are believed to be a jinx and harmed their husbands' lives. That is a bigger issue in the rural countrysides of India where mortality rate is high and these women get killed because they are 'jinxes'.

I had a dream that women from around the world gathered for war & attacked many overtly religious countries with gas bombs that made them sleep. & when they woke up, all of them men (even the boys) had their "twins" removed so that they would not only be unable to produce more daughters to abuse, but wouled become doscile from the lack of testosterone.
