the movie was based on a graphic novel made by the same guys who made Sin City... though it wasn't historically correct in any way- the fight scenes were excellent. The story lacked a little though... If it were to be a little more historically correct- the movie would have been better.

If you look at other movies that are based on history, you would also see that most often are inaccurate so it'll be more exciting.

Innacuracy to an extent might make a movie better, however the history protraying in the movie was completely wrong. Personally, I was just appauled by the apearance of the characters. I've seen pictures of Zerkzis (i dont remember how they spell his name) and I had a descripton of the spartans which is completely different. Persians most certainly did not look like that. I'm quite sure that the spartans would be quite appauled if they knew that many people in the world right now thought they just walked around in speedos. They wore armor...

The fighting in the movie was excellent- I just personally think that it would have been better if they kept a little more true to the historical apearance and mannerisms.

Who cares? First of all, Spartans were Greek and Persia tended to be sided towards Muslim/Arabs. It doesn't matter what kind ...!

I was just mentioning the similarities within the movie and the current political situation in the world. Its nice that you brought up several important historical facts. However, 300 is fictional. I was only drawing examples from the movie not history. Many movies have political references. I'm sorry you're so blind. And to produce a movie during this tense time, one cannot help but to see similarities.

I never said I didn't. I said it doesn't matter. It's a movie to watch killing and gore. All the stuff in between is just filler. No one really gives a damn about politics.

There is more to the world then what you see in front of you.

Hmm, more to the world than I see in front of me? I know about world politics, but propaganda isn't that important. I like this movie BECAUSE of the whole killing and stuff. I would like to see just one person who liked the politics of the movie more than the action.

i hated that movie. truly hated it. if theres anything i like about movies based on real events, its accuracy, and realism. 300 lacked both horribly. the "super awsome uber action-ness" didn't amuse me in the slightest. neither did the "immortals" who happened to be orcs from lord of the rings when you took their masks off, or the giant ogre that was sent against them, or that the PERSIAN king was black (not to sound racist, its just terribly inaccurate)

suffice to say, i don't know what all the fuss is about.

It seems that now more than ever today people has drawn a fascination over the legendary Spartans, and to show their admiration they run around yelling this is Sparta and kicking people down some stairs(this happened at my school a while ago). although kick as by nature ninjas and pushing elephants were probably not in the original battle and Leonidas was not the last to die, but he dies and the remaining 300 are there fighting over his corpse. Although the movie is horribly incorrect and does not portray the real 300 which was an elite group of homosexuals, it is by its nature "kickass" and "plenty of awesome". Although it is sublime in action I could not help to think that trying to imitate scenes from the play to be a tad bit ridiculous, the only benefits to this is that people now know you are an indecisive hick who very nature is arbitrarily ruled by your short attention span.
Also this is awesome

They were bisexual not entirely homosexual.

oh yes i mean bi forgot about the whole having a son business, but like all little spartan boy they had a male partner.

Having a male lover fostered deeper friendships. Spartan soldiers died for their lovers in order to save them on the battlefield. They emphasized teamwork above all.

Very entertaining, I've gotta admit.

Never saw the comic book, but a very very entertaining movie.

Though I'm sure that if they had taken out all the slow motion scenes the movie would have been about half an hour shorter...
...also being a history major...
Well enough said, it was a good piece of entertainment .
