Do you read other's opinions before you post your own?

Hello, just wondering if all the regular posters here read everybody else's posts before they reply their own. I've noticed that in many of the "opinion" threads where a controversial issue is being discussed most people just type their own thoughts without reading what the people before them said. I realize that in most of these threads there are over 6 or so pages which could get a little tiring to read through, but I've encountered a number of people who have obviously not even read the first or last page and just respond to either the OP or the thread title! Guys, that's a really bad way to post! To limit the amount of insignificant posts which just are just agreeable one-liners why don't more of you try to read what other people have said and quote them to make the discussions more interesting?

Well reading a title thread that says...for example, "Who is the cutest anime character?" and then replying "Rika from Higurashi" is just as bad in my opinion. Most people don't even use capital letters, correct spelling or adequate grammar but whatever...

I don't think it's necessary to read through pages upon pages of a thread to be able to comment in it but replying with your own post without even regarding what people above you have said is little more than spam especially if you have no intention of ever even opening up that thread again.

I read the ones on the first page, but there are days I'm really bored then I start reading every single comment...

And to be honest most of them really piss me off.

^i agree

why use capital letters. thats not that big of a deal it doesnt make it any harder to read what the person is saying. i think you just did a 180 from people who post without reading to people who have crappy grammer o.O

but yea i hate people who just post random crap. makes me wish i was a mod so i could become a thread nazi!

Well I suppose capital letters don't compare to other english skills that most people lack around here.
I think people using internet lingo in anime discussion forums is insulting to my intelligence. The fact that I could possibly be posting on the same subject as someone who uses "d"s instead of "th" and "zz" instead of "s" is pretty frightening. Most people don't do that, thankfully, but then again there's so many thoughtless list threads that I would literally be harmful to the CR boards if I was a mod here.

Considering that 90% of posts on controversial topics are pure crap, and the threads are usually 10+ pages, I mostly read the topic, skim some comments and post. I honestly think that the current system of resurrecting month's old posts to avoid 'spam' is the reason for this.
