everybody is born with both good and evil inside them. it's up to the individual and their guardians/teachers to guide them to the correct path. some may lean further to one path than the other, but i still think everyone has at least SOME of both.

both. We are all born with the right to choose and the possibility to do good or bad things. Its in human nature to do things instinctively and what our surroundings guide us to. Like say if we got the urge to push someone down the stairs bc they did something bad to you....pay back? or dont do it bc its "wrong"?

Well, just because someone harbors hatred in themselves, it doesn't necessarily make them evil. Hatred is an emotion, and is something normal that we experience everyday.

I hate people who disrespect others opinions.

I hate it whenever my brother snags the last sausage on the breakfast table, without even offering me a share.

I hate many things in the world, but it doesn't make me intrinsically evil. What I do with these emotions is the real problem here.

Plus, evil isn't a monolithic term. Reality likes to live in the neuter, so moral acts that are intrinsically "good" or "bad" are difficult to determine, depending on the moral framework used. I think the real issue here isn't so much to know the source of all evil, since human experience has shown that it exists regardless of whether or not we believe it to be a result of human actions or an existence in itself. At least for me, what's important is to realize the implications of living in a world full of evil. Does that make us evil beings, or does that mean our lives have gained meaning, in the sense that we are challenged to rise above the "evil" of the world?

Starting to sound theological... maybe. So I'll cut right here.

I think its created by all the negativity a person has, and due to influences...there it is...born of evil'...people just cant born evil from the beggining, otherwise they wont cry? theyd go " WAHAHAHAH~!!!" when born....touch wood...lol hope it never happens, and it shall not.

In Fruits Basket, it has something about kindness:
"When we are born, we are all selfish. We want food; we want attention...
but kindness is something that grows and develops...the same way our bodies do."
I like the idea of this alot.
I think that both good and evil are things that we learn about as we grow. When we are first born, we have pure survival instincts...and those are neither good nor bad. I think as we grow and learn, that is when we begin to know the difference between good and evil...and even then it depends entirely on the people who supply the information.

Evil is created. No one is born with evil. There is a Chinese saying, "When someone is born, they are all kind."

As a mother i can tell you from first-hand experiance.
My daughter is not evil, she was born pure and innocent.
She has learned "evil" things but she is not evil.
She learned those things from various places, mainly me.
I'll admit i'm not the best of parents, i make mistakes, i screw up royally sometimes. But in the end, i'm always there for her.
And all children really need is attention to the good things they do and swift, concise punishment against the negative things, if you focus too much on the punishment for the negative, the time you spend for the positive does no good.
The child will see acting out or being "evil" as a way to obtain your (the parent) attention.
This is never good, it leads down a road of juvenile delinquancies and crime.
Yes the things kids learn as 2, 3, and 4 year olds affects the rest of thier lives!
So to answer the question posed in the beginning of this thread, Evil is not born, it is created.
It is a learned pattern of behaviour that elicits the desired response in the child.
Teach better things and you get better children.
