Well, I will be teaching Chinese class here (yes this class is a section under "Languages of the World") and as for my curriculum , if any students have questions that they have encountered while watching their favorite taiwanese dramas, i would be happy to help elucidate their problems. So, if any students have particular things they want to learn about, I will do my best to teach them if i can.

so everyone can comment and say what they would like to learn:

for example: pin yin system, basic chinese phrases (i.e. where is the restroom? my name is...), slang, basically anything!

and i will need to know, which students will enroll in this class. please send me a message instead to avoid confusion. thanks!

Okay so this week's lesson, I will be teaching the basics of pin yin.
It is actually the english version of Bo, Po, Mo, Fo (a.k.a. zhu yin)
It looks like this: ㄅ ㄆ ㄇ ㄈ
(b) (p) (m) (f)

The vowels of this system are: a o e i u ü
http://www.cabxi.org/talkie/mandarin/mandarin.html
(go to this site to learn the correct pronunciations)

The rest of the letters:
b, p, m, f, d, t, n, l, g, k, h, j, q, x, z, c, s, zh, ch, sh, r, y, w
are the "consonants" of this system
(if i were you i would definitely learn pin yin (bpmf), instead of zhu yin (ㄅ ㄆ ㄇ ㄈ), because you basically memorize the specific sounds of each letter and not have to memorize the strokes of each character)

Basic: How to say I/me, you, he, she, they, us
(the words in orange are the pronunciations)
我 ~ wo ~ means "I" and "me"

我 的 = mine
(i) (this character helps change the meaning of "我" to mine)
(wo)(de)

我 自己 = myself
(i)(myself "自己" is a phrase that must work together and means "one self")
(wo)(zi)(ji)

我 們 = us
(i) (plural marker for pronouns and a few animate nouns, basically helps change it into "us" & "we". it implies that there are more "me" and "i", so it becomes "us" & "we"
(wo)(men)

我 愛 你
(i)(love)(you)
(wo)(ai)(ni)

你 ~ ni~ means "you" (it can be used towards males or females, doesn't matter)

你 的 = yours
(you) (again, this character helps change the meaning to yours. it helps make it possessive)
(ni) (de)

你 自己 = yourself
(you)(one self)
(ni)(zi)(ji)

你們 = you guys
(you)(helps increase the number of "you" so changes into "you guys"
(ni) (men)

你 愛 我
(you)(love)(me)
(ni) (ai) (wo)

他 ~ ta ~ he or she and it (can be used towards men or women)

他 的 = theirs
(his or her)(again "的" helps imply the possessive)
(ta)(de)

他 自己 = himself or herself
(him or her) (oneself)
(ta) (zi) (ji)

他 們 = them
(he or she)(more than one "he" or "she") same thing as "我 們" and "你們"
(ta)(men)

他 愛 你
(he or she) (love)(you)
(ta) (ai) (ni)

他 愛 我
(he or she)(love)(me)
(ta) (ai) (wo)

"她" can be used as "she" if you would like to avoid confusion because "女" means female so it would be used for "she" and "her"
(the pronunciation is the same as "他" ta)

so i guess everyone is waiting for another lesson? well i'll be posting up a new one every week since i have my own life that includes hot azn guys, homework, shopping, and sleeping. lmao.

so anyone watch taiwanese dramas like hana kimi (hua yang shao nian shao nu), tokyo juliet (dong fang ju li ye), iswak (e zuo ju zhi wen), bull fighting (dou niu yao bu yao), the x-family (zhong ji yi jia), and more?
if anyone didn't understand certain parts of it ask me, or just talk about them! (which i love doing!!!)
