DDR stands for the Deutsches Demokratisches Republic. It's also known as the German Democratic Republic, or GDR. Bassically it's East Germany, before it was reunified, and well, if you lived there you would think what's the point! It being kinda controlled by a gang of incredibly bright thugs called the Stasi, who know everything about you, and about your pet dog, there also happen to be about 1 of them for every 6 people in the GDR, which means that that place had the largest police force on the planet. Fortunately the Soviet Union has fallen, and East Germany is now siphoning off the riches from the West in the form of German taxes and unemployment benefits.

I think DDR has some form of mind control built into the music and flashing lights that force people to dance whether they want to to or not. You must resist the DDR it will try and rule the world.

Hmm... Dancing's not all that bad, especially violent dancing a mush pit, hurts a little though getting stuck by the spikes the guy next to you is wearing.

Probably the same reason people like Guitar Hero....

Usually people who dont like DDR do it for two reasons...

1) Your uncoordinated as hell and get owned
2) You hate techno music

DDR is fun. It's simple as that. Just because something is stupid doesn't mean that it can't be fun. I enjoy it, though I rarely play ever play it anymore. Either you like ryhthm games or you don't. When I first played I was fairly uncoordinated, but I can play and look somewhat respectable now. It's a decent way to burn some energy and work on your coordination as well.

My main problem with it is the hideous song selections. I won't even buy the newer ones. All I want is dance/techno/j-pop. There are fewer and fewer decent songs on each new DDR that it isn't even worth bothering with. Some are just lame, others are "WTF were they thinking?!?!?" I just need to import some japanese DDR games, I liked the song selection in the arcade versions over there ALOT more than over here.
