i bawled my eyes out. even my brother, who complains i'm too 'soft' at times, had moist eyes (no, those weren't tears i saw collecting in the corners)

I'm pretty sure I have never cried more in a movie than this one.
I was crying through the whole thing and even thinking about makes me tear up
it was a good movie though

I watched it, with a friend. I had a "silent" thing going on. I didn't cry or tear up as I would've THOUGHT I would. Sometimes sadness surpasses tears. I was depressed-ish after it. It was great, without gratifying or sugar-coating anything. I don't think I'll watch it again though...And Studio G. & Miyazaki are just amazing. I want to watch the drama of that anime sometime.
Saddest thing I ever watched: Romeo no Aoi Sora. It's still the saddest thing I know...*sigh* Not many people watched it, or know of it but it just gets me in a teary mood everytime.

that aunt in the movie reminds me of my own aunt, so it was kinda scary when i first watched it and thought about what would happen to me if i were in the same situation. he did his best to take care of his younger sister. I'd hardly be able to survive on my own like that.

I didn't cry the first time I watched it, but the second time I did. It's so sad, and the art and animation is well done.

of course! i think it's the best ghibli movie ever. cried buckets, of course. someone should've made bush sit down n watch it before he decided to go off to war in iraq. the psychological impact of it is equal to any of the great hollywood war films, if not better. nothing less than a masterpiece.

has anyone seen the live action? is it worth watching?

Did anyone know there's a live action Grave of the Fireflies too? I never got to finish it cause I got too lazy to watch the rest

Probably is the most depressing thing i have ever watched

Its terribly sad usually when u think about WWII, especially me being american, you think about the home team, out of obligation, usually the main aspect you think about is Hiroshima and Nagasaki from the nuking, but this show portrays the US bombings on towns and how difficult it became to survie afterwards. Amazing movies like this help lesson ignorance from people who dont know anything about war. Or at least it makes people so they are less "Blindly ignorant" and if still an ignorant person, its by choice to be a jackass. Its sad but this kind of thing happens all the time in war.
