Okay now that you've made this thread... it makes me want to read the manga. Thanks for the hidden suggestion, haha. The anime wasn't bad though

the anime is what got me into harem/bishoujo (up till them i was mostly action or comedy) so it has a special place in my heart even though there are other anime in the genre i prefer much more now.

i used to watch the christmas movie every christmas, but i've kinda slacked off since i've seen the series too many times.

i've had the whole manga version on my computer for quite a while now, i never seem to get around to reading it though. i probably should now that you're reminding me of it.

The manga had a way better ending and everything was laid out really well. But yeah the anime was quite touching, but the production value and how they changed the storyline really took it down.

the production value for when it came out was very good, though it's probably starting to show it's age now.

As much as I am of Love Hina, I do have to agree with you. I did like the manga more than the anime, but the anime could of been better had they not added/not added some things. Love Hina was my first manga I bought and like LazyBook had wrote; it was a classic. The anime could have been a lot better if;

1. Grandma Hina wasn't shown in the first episode

2. Shinobu's parents didn't appear in the anime since they weren't in the manga.

3. Tama Chan having more of role, he hardly appeared in the anime.

That is about all that could have improved, but what could of been added is,

1. Mutsumi making a faster appearance along with Tama.

2. Keitaro getting chocolate from the Hinata house members.

3. Insteed of Kentaro, Shirai and Haitani should of appeared more.

The anime wasn't too bad, but could of used a few inprovements.

Actually, now that I think about it.....This was the first harem anime I've ever seen. Brings back memories. Yep, those were the good ol' days.....Except the fact that I was a Narutard back then........Now I'm a mech-head. :O

Well....Inukami was pretty good, in the harem/ecchi category. It was funny as hell too.

Keitaro's sister never showed, or did she? o.o

She did, but only in Love Hina Again. Though honestly, she sounded a LOT more meaner in the anime than the manga. There was a reason I am sure, but its only speculation. But you are right, there wasn't even a reference of Kanako in the anime, but likewise in the manga we only got to see Mei, Naru's younger sister in the final volume of Love Hina on the final page so I guess it worked out both ways.

i hate how the animation changed for Love Hina again...

and the end of that was.. well.. bleh.

i hope the manga isnt the same cuz that was crap.

Keep in mind the age of the Love Hina series, it was from 2002. You have to admit, it did look good for it's time, but after a few years it did begin to show its age. As for the ending of Love Hina Again, well it wasn't bad. Though if they added Love Hina Again to the series Love Hina, it probably would have been a lot better.

I heard Funimation has recently got the rights to Love Hina, I read from their site they aren't going to re-dub it, but they might update the graphics.

As for another good series from Ken Akamatsu, is Negima. I've been reading it since it first came out, three years ago. It is a little better than Love Hina, but well worth buying and reading.

First anime I watched and completed. In my opinion it was great, it's what got me hooked on the harem genre, and anime in all. Though I do wish they had put more of the manga into it, the ending and all.

At least the in the manga, we got to see Keitaro and Naru married, I know its a spoiler but I think almost everyone would know after volume one. Like Lazybook had said, the anime really didn't do the manga justice. Love Hina was my first manga and it was what got me into comedy and romance anime. Even though there is the Love Hina novel, It would be quite cool if there ever was a sequel.

Though with the novel, there is material that was supposed to be in the anime and manga that never made it, but a manga sequel would be even better. But its alright, at least Love Hina is a classic that will probably remain famous for years to come.

^ Ah, an excellent point. I couldn't have said it better myself. If you read the manga first and then watch the anime, you might be disappointed but if you do it the other way around, the manga becomes a good compliment and expansion for the anime.
